Honda CBR1000RR is a sports motorcycle that is known all over the world for its high speed and incredible dynamics. This model was first released in 2008. Today, the CBR1000RR continues to enjoy great success due to its sophisticated styling and excellent performance that underscores its sporty image. High-quality plastic, reliable suspension, engine, swingarm and other parts in the motorcycle make it special for many. The many curves and streamlined shapes give it a sporty and exclusive look. The famous manufacturer Honda tried to implement all the necessary parameters for a fast and comfortable ride, and these are the main characteristics for any racer. The motorcycle has excellent acceleration dynamics and simple controls. A special feature of this vehicle is its versatility, since it can be driven both on racing roads and along narrow city streets. High-quality and fast acceleration is ensured by a dual injection system. This vehicle is equipped with a liquid cooling system. This motorcycle is perfect for the race track, as the suspension is automatically tuned to it. But when driving around town or riding with a passenger, you need to work with the suspension and adjust it yourself. The minimalist design of the motorcycle determines its light weight. During development, attention was paid to ergonomics and efficient weight distribution. This made it possible to provide the bike with characteristic agility, speed and durability. Many are satisfied with the created pendant, which is of high quality. The Honda CBR1000RR is an engineering masterpiece. The engine of this motorcycle provides a smooth increase in power and a clear increase in speed. The cast aluminum frame harmoniously combines strength, flexibility and other characteristics. Mass centralization allowed Honda to create a compact-sized model. Greetings to all forum members. Today I will write a short review of such a wonderful motorcycle as the Honda CBR 1000RR 06′. Let me say in advance that everything described below is my personal opinion and it does not pretend to be true. I will not describe the characteristics of the motorcycle. If you're interested, look it up on the Internet. Go.
A little about buying this plastic rocket. The first season, as expected, took place on a small-capacity moped called the Hyosung GT 250 Comet. On the second I had the European bestseller Honda CBR 600 F4i. And then the 2014 season was approaching. I wanted a little more sport and a motorcycle from a more recent year. Therefore, I began to look towards the Honda CBR 600 RR from 2007. I started looking through advertisements in the winter and getting ready to part with a tidy sum of $7500-8000. What’s most interesting is that I was able to find a suitable option. I’ll say right away that I used to be an ardent opponent of liter motorcycles in the city. Here and 600cc for the eyes, not to mention 1000 cubes. Later I took back my words. I noticed on the websites that a liter motorcycle costs almost the same as a six hundred. The difference is only 1 year - the liter is naturally older. And then I thought... Should I take a liter?!? This idea haunted me for several weeks. I couldn't make up my mind about the choice. But in the end I decided to take a risk and take a liter. So, in winter I successfully purchased a Honda CBR 1000RR 06′ for exactly $8k with delivery to my doorstep + a new rear cylinder + a home-made tackle. The motorcycle is European, I like it when it has emergency lights and HISS. This is what he looked like at the end of January 2014.
Moto decided to cheat a little. But more on that later. Now for my personal impressions of the motorcycle. I will briefly describe it in the form of pros and cons:
Pros: + comfortable fit, so to speak, relative to other sports liters; + easy power dosing. At the same time, everything is predictable and transparent. It fires with a bang, the acceleration is excellent; + good head light. My neighbor has xenon. Moreover, as on most Honda models, one headlight is responsible for the low beam, the other for the high beam; + good brakes. Again, with proper skill, the motorcycle stops dead in its tracks; + hydraulic clutch. Personally, it’s easier to squeeze than a cable. I don’t know how much better this is in terms of mechanics and reliability... By the way, in 2008, on a newer model of its liter, Honda again returned to the cable; + definitely impressive appearance. Everything is harmonious and beautiful. The rear is also sprightly. Stopak over the muffler, and not like in the 600cc 2007-2012, where the Japanese clearly overdid it. And they placed the brake light under the exhaust; + easy to read dashboard. The tachometer is an alarm clock, the speedometer is digital. What I didn’t like is that there is no fuel level scale. The reserve light comes on when there is approximately 3.5 liters in the tank.
Now about the minuses: - large volume. Accordingly, the motorcycle heats up quickly. And in traffic jams this can be a problem. I will say that it heats eggs well. But there is also a small plus. If it is cool outside (spring-autumn or cold night), then on the contrary - the eggs are warm and this is pleasant; — at low speeds (up to 10-15 km/h) the motorcycle becomes jerky. You have to constantly press the clutch. When you gain speed, this disease disappears; — review in the mirrors as usual. In half of the mirror you can see your elbow, in the other half - part of the road. Not critical, but it could have been better; — weak wind protection with stock glass. You need to bet Double Boble; — gasoline consumption is about 9-10 liters per hundred of 95 gasoline. Six hundred is more humane in this regard. There the consumption is about 7.0-7.5 liters per 100 km.
When purchasing the motorcycle it was already installed: - reinforced hoses. Disadvantage of this installation. We secured the hose to the front shield. But the hose is rigid and when turning the steering wheel, a piece of the front shield was broken.
— Chinese blown glass, which already had a crack;
— The shovel was removed and an Arrow , it mumbles well; — hit of the season — integrated stopak; — Xenon low beam. I thought about installing lenses, but left it as is. The light is good.
I didn’t want to change anything radically on the motorcycle. Therefore, I limited myself to small goodies in the form of: - changed the color of the dashboard; — short folding triggers in the color of the motorcycle; — The steering weights were replaced from silver to black; — sliders in the pendulum; — installed Chinese mirrors on a 2008 1000RR with built-in turn signals and markers. I soldered the LEDs for the dimensions to white ones; there were yellow ones in stock. I made spacers between the plastic and the mirrors, which was not so easy. The mirrors are slightly wider than stock, so visibility is improved; — redesigned the number plate mount, hiding the number deep inside the motorcycle. The advantage of this installation is that the number is less noticeable. The downside is that dirt flies onto the room, you need to wash it often. — installed the front “droplet” turns and the rear “triangle” turns, while turning off the turn signals in the stack; — re-glued the stickers on the wheels.
It remains to install: — tinted Double Boble glass from Zero Gravity; — Hawk X-60 alarm system.
What's in question: — speed sensor; — arcs and sliders.
That's all for now. I hope this information will be at least a little useful to those who in the future want to buy the same motorcycle. I welcome comments, suggestions, criticism and questions. I didn’t regret that I took a liter instead of 600cc. My inner voice did not let me down this time.
PS Sorry for the quality of the photos. I shot with my five megapixel calculator.

At the request of workers, a small comparison of the F4i with the 1000RR.
Landing. On F4i it is smooth. And for the first time I sat down on a liter, I thought how uncomfortable it was here. It's even more or less bearable to hold onto the steering wheel. But the location of the footrests was very unusual at first. They are shifted back and I could not put my feet there, while the body must be tilted forward more. But I got used to it quickly, and now there is no discomfort. You sit on a motorcycle and your legs themselves know where to “become.” The steering wheel is lowered slightly compared to the F4i. You get used to it quickly too. In general, there are no complaints about the landing. Super sport is super sport. For short distances and cities there are no problems. A little about landing the second number. Now I remember visually. It seems that on the F4i the passenger’s knees are more straightened than on the liter. By the way, the F4i has a knob for the second number. On a liter you only have to hold on to the pilot.
Ergonomics. Both motorcycles have all the switches, frills, buttons, and so on in their standard places. Anyone who has driven a Honda shouldn't have any problems at all. The only thing is that the F4i did not have emergency lights. By the way, it’s a necessary thing, I use it often. So, at first I had to get used to where the button was. Sometimes my finger missed. Now - no problems. Dashboard. Everything is great here on both motorcycles. Everything is read with a bang, all the necessary data is always at hand. The backlight on both motorcycles is amber and does not put pressure on the eyes at night. But I always wanted a white tachometer, so I got a little twisted and soldered the diodes in the assembly. Mirrors. They are the same in shape for these motorcycles and are located almost the same. As mentioned above, you can see part of your elbow and the adjacent strip. When I drove the F4i I wanted to buy spacers, they cost about $20, they “spread” the mirrors a little to the side. Useful thing. But I didn’t have time to buy it. Instead of spacers, I bought a liter motorcycle. xD Head light. Both motorcycles have one headlight for low beam and the other for high beam. I don’t know about others, but I like this “squint” feature. I will never forget when I drove past a cop. And he tells me: “One of your headlights is not on.” The headlights illuminate the road well, no complaints. But the carburetor F4 (1999-2001 onwards) had problems with lighting, but, as we see, this was quickly corrected in the restyling. I forgot to add, if you have a European F4i, then the lights on it can be turned off (positions: off, dimensions, low beam) with the switch on the right remote control. On the 1000RR, even though it’s European, the low beam and dimensions turn on automatically. This is so that you don’t forget to turn on the lights when driving along special roads. After all, we need to be noticeable. By the way, I drive in the city during the day with high beams. Exhaust. The F4i has a side exhaust, which does not interfere with the pilot in any way. But it happened a couple of times that inexperienced second numbers managed to burn their legs. Not much, but still. The liter has an exhaust under the seat. In my opinion, it looks cool and is much more interesting than the assembly. I love the aesthetic placement of the exhaust on the 1000RR. Again, it does not cause any problems for the pilot. I heard that the butt of the second number is being roasted. I was giving rides to people and wondering how things were going “there”. They said that everything was fine and nothing was heating up anywhere. Hager and radiator. Everything is clear here. The F4i doesn't have it from the factory, the liter does. It doesn't help much though. I had it on F4i. And here and there, dirt flies onto the shock absorber. Maybe it helps just a little. Both bikes have short front guards, so the radiator is always dirty. Wash it more often and no problems. By the way, I saw a video on this forum. So there they looked at the 1000RR 2004-2005. The air intake is made under the muzzle, and dirt from the front wheel could get there. I looked at my place and this bug has been fixed. Wind protection. For both motorcycles with standard glasses it is not very good. If you want to feel protected at high speeds. It’s worth installing humped glass, a very useful thing. Chinese ones are cheap, good manufacturers are several times more expensive. There is always a choice.
Handling and dynamics. A liter is a little larger and has a little more mass. But you get used to the dimensions and weight of a liter and now it seems that there are no differences between them. The liter has better brakes, of course. In terms of dynamics, everything is clear here, a liter is a liter. 178 bunks versus 110. The difference is obvious. The throttle is more sensitive. By the nature of the ride, the 1000RR will be a little easier than with similar motorcycles from other manufacturers. He's friendlier or something. The liter goes great with a passenger. At 600cc the bike becomes a little sluggish. Not critical, but 1000RR is more fun no matter what. The main thing is not to forget about safety, and that you are responsible for whoever is behind you.
Mechanics. I haven't had any problems with the 1000RR yet. Pah-pah-pah. I heard the generator may be a sore spot. The F4i has a well-known problem with the timing chain tensioner. Everything else is fine, the gearbox shifts perfectly.
Let me summarize. I'm happy with the change in cubic capacity. When selling my F4i, I drove it. After a liter, like a vegetable. Gee-gee. You turn it, but it doesn't move. But it’s understandable, the volume and horses are completely different. At least the F4i will remain in my memory as one of the best motorcycles I've ridden. But the liter won my heart and now it is No. 1. If I change it, it will be to 1000RR 08'+. I heard he is even better than my generation. Although this is unlikely to happen. We need to think about family life. And there will be no time for new liters at all.
