Experience using a BMW F650 motorcycle (F650GS, F650ST, F650CS)

F 650 CS

- motorcycle model, BMW brand

The BMW F650CS is the successor to the F 650 GS fanduro, which in a short time gained popularity among buyers. Despite its badass off-road appearance, this motorcycle has more “fun”, i.e. pleasure in its purest form, which is more suitable for urban “outbreak”. The F 650 CS inherited from its predecessor unchanged the power unit - a 1-cylinder engine with a four-valve cylinder head, liquid cooling and fuel injection. The chassis and transmission have undergone significant changes. The F 650 GS duplex frame is made of powerful diagonal elements and pipes and is attached to the rear swingarm with a cantilever wheel mount. Driven by a toothed belt, it does not require lubrication and lasts twice as long. The motorcycle's gas tank, like that of other F650 series machines, is hidden under the saddle, and the swelling behind the steering column is nothing more than a spacious luggage compartment with a set of attachments to choose from - a soft luggage bag, a helmet crab, a hard 10-liter trunk, or an audio system. In the list of additional The motorcycle's equipment includes a proprietary anti-lock braking system, a kit for adjusting the seat height, a trunk case, heated handlebar grips, a high windshield and a 12-volt outlet. The BMW F650CS was produced from 2001 to 2005, replacing the F 650 Strada. The F650CS was subsequently replaced by the F 800 S.

Hi all! Once I posted a video about how I almost got knocked over... And someone asked me to tell you more about the under-GOOSE... who is interested under the cut From myself A German motorcycle with one pot of 652 cc and a huge piston, called a rotax. The engine was tested on the previous model; this one just had an injector attached. The frame is the same as the f650gs tourenduro, and it is its twin by 60 percent... There are no criminal electronics here like on modern boomers, this is why it is as reliable as a Kalashnikov assault rifle, although our people think that it is afraid of low-quality gasoline. It has a convenient low center of gravity due to the tank under the butt, and in place of the classic tank there is a glove compartment, a convenient removable trunk, which is actually an option. I skated on it for two seasons and continue... it consumes little gasoline... it runs fine... injector, abs, heated grips, belt, and what more do you need?! No breakdowns were detected over 10,000 kilometers; I sat down and drove off at any time. I was thinking of selling it, but after the last 460km drive I realized that for this money I couldn’t buy such a reliable friend, and there was nothing to add, so I’ll keep it for myself for now. I service it myself, it takes a day to unscrew the bolts slowly... His appearance is extraordinary - for some he is ugly, but for others he is handsome... he is illiquid on the secondary market because... Everyone is afraid of BMWs, and the model is very rare. I’m thinking of installing goose tires for next season, it should turn out a little meaner on gravel roads. As a result, I will say that I am satisfied, a truly reliable German friend! Official information... BMW F650CS is a lightweight motorcycle originally from Germany, aimed primarily at beginners in this class of motorcycles. Moderately powerful, reliable and with an easy-going character, it is loved by many who like to travel on a two-wheeled friend. The F650CS replaced the company's previous model, the BMW F650, on the assembly line, and the descendant has a lot in common with its ancestor.

These two motorcycles really have a lot in common. The engine and frame were carried over to the BMW F650CS from its predecessor, but underwent some modifications. So, the carburetor was replaced by an injector, a simple design, but even more economical. And if you consider that the single-cylinder engine of the F650CS is not particularly voracious anyway, the power reserve of this motorcycle without refueling will please anyone.

In addition to the injector, the cylinder head has undergone changes. This is where the main technical differences end - the gearbox on the BMW F650CS is still the same, five-speed, only the chain drive has been replaced by a belt drive. Thus, the moment of gear shifting has become even less noticeable, and the smoothness of the ride has increased, especially when driving around the city, when you have to change gears frequently. True, at high speeds the BMW F650CS still vibrates - this is due to the single cylinder with a volume of 650 cubic meters. BMW F650CS The engine, with the exception of the installation of injection, has not changed on the BMW F650CS. This is still the same good old engine, well known to bikers from the F650 model, producing 50 horsepower and capable of accelerating the motorcycle to approximately 170 km/h. The belt, like the chain, transmits torque to the rear wheel without loss, and the motorcycle itself weighs little, so the dynamics of the F650CS are really pleasing. The motorcycle's suspensions are soft and energy-intensive; they absorb all road irregularities perfectly. And the low center of gravity of the BMW F650CS makes it easier to control at low speeds. BMW designers managed to partially shift the center of gravity so low by moving the motorcycle's gas tank under the saddle, and in place of the false tank there is a luggage compartment. BMW 650 motorcycle As a result, the Bavarian designers came up with exactly what they wanted - lightweight, weighing less than 190 kilograms, the BMW F650CS copes well with both long trips and everyday commuting to work, fortunately the modest dimensions of the motorcycle allow it to feel at ease even in traffic jams Of course, not the smallest saddle height imposes its limitations, but if desired, you can always lower the saddle in one way or another. And finally, we can mention that, after all, the BMW F650CS is designed for one person. Undoubtedly, you can travel together, but there is a risk that it will be a bit crowded, and the dynamics at speeds of over a hundred km/h will become noticeably worse. For long trips on a motorcycle for two, there are larger and more powerful models, including BMW ones, for example, the BMW R1200RT. But there is a question of price.

Inspect the motorcycle before purchasing. BMW F650CS.

Hello.

I got out here to inspect one interesting motorcycle, a BMW F650CS. In general, I have come across these motorcycles before, but this time I just came across an interesting dilemma that I would like to share.

This motorcycle is one of the many variations of the BMW F650, with a Rotax brick engine, about which a lot has already been said on the pages of this site, an almost fail-safe mechanism. The BMW F650CS is a fuel-injected single-cylinder road bike with a very distinctive appearance, a very low seating position, which is why girls are often interested in this motorcycle, and rear-wheel drive by a belt.

In general, it’s a normal road bike for BMW, with a caveat to their fashion of pushing the same engine into both road bikes and endura bikes. For quiet everyday driving - just right. But why, at first glance, such good equipment is so cheap? After all, the cost of the BMW F650CS is on average lower on the market than almost any of the road cars of the same years of production. Yes, because it’s illiquid!

Selling this miracle of Bavarian engineering is quite difficult, and the situation is aggravated by the need to replace fairly expensive consumables, such as a belt and a fuel filter with a pressure regulator, which at one time I even tried to convert to cheaper options.

There is a fairly large group of belt fans who are ready to defend the economic feasibility of its use with foam at the mouth. After all, if a chain runs on average 10,000-12,000 (although how to gas it, I know one pensioner who runs 50,000 on a chain...), then the belt is supposed to last about 40,000 km. But there is one “but”. For these people, the cost of replacing a belt is not 1/5 of the cost of the entire motorcycle
