Testing CF Moto CF625-X6 EFI and CF Moto SSV CF625-Z6

The basic model of the CF MOTO X6 ATV is unique in its kind and has no analogues in the price category in terms of parameters and technical characteristics. Thanks to such individuality, the brainchild of the Chinese automobile industry has become extremely popular throughout the Russian Federation and neighboring countries. The excellent price-quality ratio of the utilitarian model made it possible to fill the lack of two-seater ATVs on the market, and the X6 itself took one of the leading places in sales.

But despite all its popularity, the CF MOTO X6 has many competitors. The list of the Chinese’s main opponents includes Polaris touring vehicles and BRP vehicles from the Outlander line. ATVs from famous brands are somewhat superior to the CF MOTO X6 in terms of technical characteristics, but are significantly inferior in price.

Reviews from CF MOTO X6 users

Among X6 owners there are often experienced motorcyclists and professionals in four-wheeled motorcycle racing, who are able to identify even the most minor errors of manufacturers. According to users, the entire CF MOTO X6 line is ideal for amateur use. The basic version of ATVs sold in huge numbers to farmers and rural residents.

Among the main features noted by buyers are:

  • Optimal balance of ground clearance and wheelbase. This allows you to maneuver even along forest paths and fields without fear for the integrity of the parts on the bottom.
  • The ratio of power of 600 cubes and dry weight of 357 kg is a positive quality for utilitarian use.
  • Availability of parts. Since the model has been produced for many years, the dealer network in the Russian Federation can easily provide the client with the necessary spare parts, without delays in delivery from China.
  • The case is made of high-strength plastic that can withstand both rough mechanical shocks and temperature changes. This allows you to use the X6 ATV in severe frost conditions.

There is a rumor among users online that there are minor differences between models of different years of production that indirectly affect the quality of transport. The manufacturer itself and the dealer network in the Russian Federation denies any differences, stating that a change in the color of the seal or connecting tubes does not indicate the use of a part of a different quality. The only question is the batch of spare parts delivered to the plant itself.

In fact, SF MOTO X6 is an improved model of the younger, fifth generation. The manufacturer took into account a lot of shortcomings, which were corrected in the base model of the sixth generation. Users noticed that the lack of power of the previous version was easily compensated for by the additional hundred cubic meters in the engine and the injection system (which, by the way, first appeared in the basic configuration only on the X6).

Specifications

In the basic model CF MOTO X6, the characteristics are comparable to the X8 and ATVs, but with the minimum cost of the classic version, this fact can be considered an advantage. Due to the installation of an injector, fuel consumption is reduced, and many functionalities are adjusted to the driver’s driving style in automatic mode, which significantly affected the popularity of the ATV. In general, the CF MOTO X6 has the following technical characteristics:

  • Engine brand CF196S-B. Four strokes, four valves and one cylinder provide a total power of 38 hp. This should be taken into account the reduced speed (only 6300 rpm) with a power of 694 cubic meters, which makes the CF X6 an excellent tractor.
  • Injector. Automatic adjustment of fuel consumption and other fuels and lubricants is provided by a professional injector from BOSH. Electronic control and modern injector “brains” greatly simplify the need to configure the ATV for races on different tracks.
  • Dimensions of the basic version: 230x118x123 cm. Very impressive dimensions have a number of advantages, for example, an almost one and a half meter wheelbase taking into account a ground clearance of 27.5 cm allows you to overcome even the most difficult obstacles.
  • The dry weight of the transport is 364 kg. In the classic version, the balancing system of the X6 ATV distributes the weight of the load 35/75 kg, on the front and rear trunk, respectively. Also, we must not forget about the 19 liter fuel tank. Taking into account the reduced power consumption, due to the intelligent fuel supply system, the driver can expect to travel a distance of almost 200 km, provided the road is smooth, straight and dry. According to reviews, the CF MOTO X6 in extreme mode, with two passengers and with the trunks fully loaded, travels approximately 120-150 km with a full tank.
  • Independent front suspension with double, reinforced wishbones. Pre-installed hydraulic shock absorbers will make it possible to feel the road surface, thereby providing complete driving pleasure to both driver and passenger.

In general, the CF MOTO X6 ATV is a practical analogue of the fifth generation. As the owners managed to note, despite minor modifications, the X6 Classic is only slightly superior to the basic X5, and their prices are different. The engine power increased by 100 cm3 is felt with difficulty, due to the greater calculation of traction, with similar speed capabilities. Manufacturers changed the concept of assembling the sixth generation of motor vehicles, but completely forgot about individuality, which is the biggest disadvantage for ordinary users.

CF625-X6 EFI VS CF500A-basic: cross-country ability

Let me start with the fact that when analyzing the cross-country ability of different CFMOTO models, they are usually compared first of all - with the tires that are equipped with these ATVs when delivered to the Russian market. The CF625-X6 EFI has more advanced 26-inch wheels as a base, but I won’t count this as its advantage, since for the difference in price with the CF500A-basic (and just CF500A) you can install more on the “five hundred” more angry and advanced than the stock Anсla “X-6” tires. Therefore, I propose to begin by comparing the CF500A and CF625-X6 EFI “in their pure form,” without taking into account the difference in tires. Let's imagine that both ATVs have identical wheels of identical diameter.

The drive scheme for all CFMOTO ATV models is the same: a permanently locked rear axle differential, a rigidly connected front axle (there is no center differential) and a forced differential lock. In addition, both ATVs have almost the same geometry, so their cross-country potential is identical. But there are also small differences, which I will dwell on in more detail.

The length and width differ only because of the plastic (and even then within a centimeter), the track and base are identical. Weights are also similar - without fuel in the tank it is 320 kg for the CF500A and 338 kg for the CF625-X6 EFI. Often on forums you hear about the greater weight of the “six hundred”, and formally this is true - it is 18 kilograms heavier, but in this case this is not significant (about 5% increase). As for the clearance, the difference will depend only on the adjustments. In the extreme positions of the suspension there is almost complete parity: the CF500A only has slightly less clearance (by about a centimeter) in the rear part of the frame due to the lower gearbox. The main advantage of the CF625-X6 EFI is the larger engine, which means it is more torquey at low speeds. This allows you to start off more smoothly and move “tightly”, without slipping, which is important on weak-bearing soils and, especially, in snow. In addition, thanks to more power, the X6 allows you to safely move in high gear in deep loose snow, where when using a lower gear it immediately digs in. “Five hundred”, in principle, is also capable of this, but at the same time one feels that it is already difficult for it (especially when driving with a passenger).

So, the X-six has only the best traction capabilities off-road. Does this mean that the X6’s cross-country ability is better than that of the CFMOTO “five hundred”? Yes, but only exactly as much as the X6 is more powerful (that is, not by much). Well, in practice, I was able to encounter only one situation: when driving uphill through deep snow. Where the CF625-X6 EFI drove at the limit, but still on its own, “basic”, and shod with the best tires (26 Witch), had to be pushed. After that, the even more powerful King Quad on the same Witch passed these places without outside help and noticeably easier than the X6. Also, the CF625-X6 EFI, provided it uses the same tires as the CF500A, can move more confidently if the quads are crawling on their bellies. At the same time, at the moments when the wheels find something to cling to (roots, stones, dense layers of soil, etc.), the X-Six receives more powerful traction impulses. When overcoming trial obstacles (logs, dry ruts, ditches, etc.), the X6 is also a little easier to control. Firstly, due to the possibility of smoother gas operation (the engine is more torquey), and, secondly, due to lighter steering. That’s probably all the difference; the rest is parity.

If, when analyzing the cross-country ability of 500- and 700-cc models (not to mention the 700-800-cc V2), the line beyond which the 500s must be carried by hand, while their larger brethren still confidently drive on their own, is clearly visible and you can To say that there is a certain gap between such quads, then the line between the CF500A and CF625-X6 EFI is more than thin, and the difference can only be discerned by operating both quads at once in identical conditions. At the same time, I don’t argue that sometimes a small advantage is enough, but, again, these will not be truly extreme conditions, but simply difficult off-road conditions.

Now let's get back to the wheels. If your goals extend further than, as is usually called, “driving along forest paths,” then you need to understand that standard 25-inch tires are definitely not suitable for us. The “Ankla” on the CF625-X6 EFI is more advanced - it is an inch larger both in width and in outer diameter, it has much more developed lugs, but it is also not suitable for off-road extreme sports in the full sense of the word. Of course, you can ride on it, but you have to be aware that these are still universal tires, but not mud tires. When preparing a true all-terrain vehicle, the standard wheels of both the CF500A and the X-6 will have to be changed. And here lies the most significant difference between the compared CFMOTO models.

For 500cc CFMOTOs, a smart option would be to install 26-inch mud tires, which would require only minor trimming of the plastic. At the same time, you can still race on a quad, without particularly limiting yourself in speed, drifts, or jumps. The loss in dynamics will be barely noticeable; the wheels will not catch anything even when landing after jumps. The safety margin of the transmission and suspension allows you to install larger tires on the CF500A - 27 (and, if desired, even 28 inches), however, such a quad will turn into a self-propelled vehicle with a very limited speed, and this will not only be due to a lack of traction, but also to a limited supply the strength of the frame (it may not hold up when jumping on large rollers); in addition, contact of the tread with the skin of the ATV is possible during compression strokes of the suspension. Thus, to fully maintain the versatility of the vehicle, the maximum size of mud tires when installed on a “basic” model should not exceed 26 inches. By the way, I didn’t say about the possibility of installing 28 inches on the 500 CF for the sake of a catchphrase - the gearboxes and drives from this quad are installed even on the CF800-X8 EFI, where the engine torque is exactly twice as high!

On the CF625-X6 EFI, of course, you can also limit yourself to installing a meaner 26-inch tires (this size is generally the golden mean for most ATVs), but if we are talking about increasing cross-country ability is still within reason, then you can install 27' on this all-terrain vehicle wheels. Thus, at the end, due to the rubber, it is possible to increase the advantage of the “X-sixth” in clearance. Can the X6 have 28-inch tires? With certain modifications it is possible, but it will still be overkill and the same self-propelled vehicle. It is better to choose the CF800-X8 EFI model as a carrier for such rollers (and even then only when creating an uncompromising all-terrain vehicle).

Conclusion. The CF625-X6 EFI can be built to be a slightly better rogue than the CF500A. However, this will cost a significantly larger amount - both when purchasing the quad itself and when purchasing mud tires. Nevertheless, although small, the gain in cross-country ability brings the first points to the X6's treasury. If we express the advantage of the 600 cc model in numbers, then I would estimate it at 5%.

FURTHER

Model range and tuning

The basic model is presented on trading platforms in only two color options. As an additional VIP option, the plastic case can be painted in camouflage. Actually, the model range of the base X6, as in other cases, differs only in a change in the color base, but the manufacturer did not skimp on tuning.

Despite the fact that the SF MOTO X6 ATV has personalization capabilities, including body kits and additional components, it is created on the basis of fifth-generation vehicles. This makes almost all changes and tuning elements that the manufacturer intended for the X5 adaptive. If we consider specifically the tuning of the CF MOTO X6 ATV, reviews from owners speak about the quality of the elements, although the urgent need for modernization arises only in individual cases.

The most noticeable difference between the X6 and most of its peers is its expressive design and high quality parts.

The protrusions that act as passenger footrests are, firstly, quite short and allow only a size 34 shoe to be comfortably placed there, and secondly, they noticeably limit the driver’s freedom of choice of foot position.

The protection of the levers is quite a hindrance during strong swings in turns, leaving marks on the wrists after 15 minutes of active riding.
But there is also a plus: it protects your hands well from the cold and from stones and branches.
