Motorcycle GL 1500 Interstate Gold Wing 1991: technical specifications, photos, videos

GL 1500

- motorcycle model, Honda brand,

The Honda GL1500 Gold Wing touring motorcycle model appeared on the market in 1988 as a successor to the Honda GL1200 Gold Wing, in contrast to which the new model received a number of technical changes:

New engine. The boxer 4-cylinder was replaced by a boxer 6-cylinder, the volume increased (1182 → 1520 cm³), the compression ratio increased (9.0 → 9.8:1), and the maximum performance increased (94 → 100 hp; 105 → 150 Nm). New frame. New generation of steel duplex frame. Reverse system. Works through starter reverse. New carburetors. They have increased in size, now there are only 2 carburetors for the entire engine (one for each three cylinders). Brake system. The brake discs were enlarged and became combined.

Pendants. Equipped with a pneumatic compressor that allows automatic adjustment of the suspension.

Touring options. Standard equipment includes an adjustable windshield, heating and a saddlebag system with central locking.

Also, unlike the Gold Wing 1200, the new GL1500 model was available in the Japanese market.

In 1989, the model received new larger brake discs, new model carburetors and different camshafts.

Main modifications of the Honda Gold Wing 1500:

Honda GL1500 Gold Wing is the regular version and the only version offered from 1988 to 1990.

Honda GL1500SE Gold Wing Special Edition is an expensive limited edition in honor of the 15th anniversary of the model. It was distinguished by colors, ventilated glass, additional light, a more expensive audio system, adjustments to the footrests and passenger seat.

Honda GL1500A Gold Wing Aspencade is an anniversary version in honor of the release of the 500,000th Gold Wing motorcycle. In fact, this is a Special Edition with different colors and emblems.

Honda GL1500I Gold Wing Interstate is a stripped down, cheaper version of the motorcycle. It does not have reverse gear, cruise control or passenger platforms. Equipped with a simpler Kenwood audio system (since 1992 - Panasonic).

The Honda GL1500 Gold Wing model existed until 2000, after which it was replaced by a new one - the Honda Gold Wing 1800. Models of the Valkyrie series were also built on the basis of the GL1500.

Description Honda GLX 1500 Goldwing 1991

The model of the legendary touring motorcycle Honda GL1500 Gold Wing was first presented in 1987 at the Cologne Motorcycle Exhibition and was produced almost unchanged until 2000. Compared to its predecessor (Honda GL1200 Gold Wing), the new “Golda” had a number of technical changes, the main one of which was a new 6-cylinder boxer engine with a capacity of 1520 cc. see, producing 100 hp. power and 150 Nm of torque. Due to the strong depowering of the engine, it had a huge service life, designed to cover hundreds of thousands of kilometers.

Another important technical difference between the Honda GL1500 Gold Wing and its predecessors is the presence of a compressor, which allows you to pump air into the suspension using a button. In addition, the ability to reverse the motorcycle (using an electric starter) has been added.

Overall, the Honda GL1500 Gold Wing is a fully loaded touring motorcycle with a huge number of options and electronics. This includes a built-in music system, a radio station, glove compartments, wardrobe trunks, adjustable footrests, an adjustable windshield, the presence of a heater, cruise control, etc. All this allows you to comfortably move long distances in almost any weather.

Main modifications of the Honda GL1500 Gold Wing:

  • Honda GL1500 Aspencade is an anniversary version of the motorcycle in honor of the release of the 500,000th model of the Honda GL1500 Gold Wing motorcycle.
  • Honda GL1500 Special Edition (SE) is a commemorative motorcycle model in honor of the 15th anniversary of the model. It was distinguished by color paint, a ventilated windshield, the presence of additional headlights, a modern audio system, adjustable footrests and heated feet.

  • Honda GL1500 Interstate is a budget version of the motorcycle. It was lighter in weight due to the lack of cruise control, a reverse system and the presence of a simpler audio system. In 1999 it was replaced by the Honda GL1500CF Valkyrie Interstate.
  • 1987 - the Honda GL1500 Gold Wing model was first presented at the Cologne motorcycle exhibition, which replaced the Honda GL1200 Gold Wing.
  • 1993 - the model receives minor updates regarding the engine and cruise control system. Now the system directly read the revolutions from the crankshaft, which increased the accuracy of the cruise control.
  • 1995 - The Honda GL1500 Gold Wing Aspencade model receives improved suspension, reducing ground clearance and thereby lowering the center of gravity. These changes made it possible to compensate for the increased dry weight of the motorcycle to 364 kg.
  • 1997 – Honda GL1500 Gold Wing receives minor improvements to the engine and gearbox.
  • 2000 – The Honda GL1500 Gold Wing model is discontinued and is replaced by a more modern version, the Honda GL1800 Gold Wing. This year's 1500 features a chrome and gold-plated valve cover.

Why is the Gold Wing 1500 so loved by many bikers? Probably for something that no one has surpassed it in - for comfort. When you go on a trip with it, it feels like you are riding in a house on wheels. Luxurious seats, excellent wind protection, music, a bunch of different adjustments, excellent power reserve, solid luggage volume and signature Honda reliability - yes, the Gold Wing 1500 has something to brag about, despite the fact that the age of some copies of this motorcycle has already exceeded a quarter of a century. But first things first.

Starting with the Gold Wing 1000, all motorcycles in this line have been equipped with boxer engines, and the GL 1500 is no exception. The six-cylinder boxer engine, producing a hundred horsepower, is powered by a pair of carburetors, and 150 nm of torque turns the Golda into a projectile that shoots sharply forward, as soon as you turn the throttle towards you. Despite a dry weight of more than 370 kilograms and a large windage, the Gold Wing 1500 can be called a truly dynamic motorcycle.

Due to the heavy weight and relatively high center of gravity, handling the motorcycle is not so easy, at least until you get going and reach a speed of 15-20 km/h. On the move, the Gold Wing 1500 handles simply fabulously; you simply don’t expect anything like this from this colossus. But at near-zero speeds there is a feeling that the motorcycle is “floating”, and there is no connection between the steering wheel and the front wheel. This problem, known among GL 1500 owners, is due to the fact that the thin fork “plays” too much and twists, including during braking. This problem is eliminated by installing a third triple clamp, which gives the Gold Wing 1500 fork the necessary rigidity.

The highlight of any Golda is its luxurious equipment. Of course, it varies depending on the configuration - for example, the Aspencade version lacks reverse gear and air suspension, but not everyone can independently push four tons of steel and plastic, even up a small hill. The top version boasts height-adjustable passenger platforms (it is believed that this option was only installed on motorcycles produced for the Japanese domestic market), rear air suspension and reverse gear. All versions of the Gold Wing 1500 are equipped with a music system, an adjustable windshield with a window and a whole bunch of other amenities.

Looking at the prices for used motorcycles in this class, you understand that the Gold Wing 1500 is beyond competition. This motorcycle is capable of providing the highest comfort, the 23-liter gas tank ensures long, carefree trips with a minimum of refueling, the glass and fairing reliably protect from water and wind... Well, if you want coolness, you can open a window in the glass, which will let in exactly as much wind as needed, so that it is pleasant, but not cold. On the highway, the GL 1500 is in its element, and it is capable of taking the happy owner far, far away, even on a trip around the world.

Of course, there were some downsides. The Honda Gold Wing 1500 is a really heavy bike and also very expensive to drop. Maintenance is significantly difficult due to the complex design, and almost any service operation takes a lot of effort and time, and in motorcycle services, due to the complexity of the work, they ask for a lot of money. But if you want to buy a used and not the most expensive luxury touring motorcycle, then the Gold Wing 1500 is a great option. This motorcycle combines reliability, excellent technical characteristics and the highest level of comfort.

Go to the entire range of Honda motorcycles, on this page you can find Honda GLX 1500 Goldwing motorcycles from other years of production and information about them

We should also pay tribute to the trunks - three huge trunks can accommodate a bunch of useful things. Two “integrals” fit into the central one without any problems. But the inquisitive mind of the Russian owner of the Gold Wing will definitely come up with some nasty thing that the naive designers did not suspect. For example, I decided to somehow adjust the locks on the panniers, otherwise they weren’t closing well. Well, of course, I dropped a tiny screw from my hands. And that little bastard fell not to the ground, but into some technological niche in the inside of the case lid. Without turning the motorcycle over, it was impossible to shake out the screw... I had to remove the entire cover, dismantle the decorative elements, and rescue the poor fellow. Having installed everything in place, I still didn’t understand why this niche was needed?

In general, the amount of plastic in this motorcycle is amazing. Absolutely everything is covered. The only pity is that the grade of some plastics is chosen in such a way that its age is clearly visible. No matter how you polish it, the plastic will never become brand new. This, I think, is out of grade for such a motorcycle. In addition, when in motion, all this equipment rattles great on bumps. VAZ-2108 drivers will understand me.

To get an idea of what Golda has under her dress, you just need to open the gas tank flap. Underneath you will see a gloomy cork made in the industrial style, and no reminders of external shine. If you continue your research and pry off the side panels, you can get acquainted with the gearbox, battery and even, imagine - the frame! The motorcycle is black, tubular, with box-shaped elements and not at all rigid. Although, for tourism it’s just right. Well, it’s time to take some kind of turn... However, I expected more tilt resistance from such a monster! The motorcycle, although not sportbike-like easily, but not chopper-like reluctantly, “settled down” in the turn quite tolerably. Not deep, really - pretty soon the footboards were scratched. This responsiveness is thanks to the low center of gravity and longitudinally oriented crankshaft. This way, after practicing, you can practice urban slalom! Adjusted for dimensions, of course.

I tried it. Did not like. "Golda" is not a city bike. Unless we are talking about driving along night avenues. In this case, everything is on the level - both self-awareness and attention from the sidelines. And in a traffic jam it’s hard on it. Somehow you immediately feel all the almost 400 kilograms and the notorious flimsiness of the steering wheel at low speeds. So, what do we have here with the radio? “Golda” is a motorcycle with music in the standard version! The sound is turned on by the volume control vernier: click! - and from four speakers pours a wonderful, dense sound mess, which, upon closer examination, turns out to be jazz music transmitted by the corresponding radio. I turned another knob, the one responsible for automatically increasing the volume depending on the speed - the porridge became louder. I am inclined to blame the very aged speakers and the weak amplifier of the standard radio for the “cooking”. Advice: these elements should be replaced immediately after purchase with something newer and more powerful - you won’t get any help from your relatives. Moreover, in the “Japanese” version of the American Gold Wing motorcycle, the radio is configured to receive only the very “left” edge of the FM range that is familiar to us.

But the mute button and station tuning levers located under the left hand are very convenient. As well as a large LCD display showing the frequency. It's nestled between the speedometer and tachometer on an almost car-like dashboard. It contains all possible signal lights: in addition to the standard set, you have side stand, and OD (overdrive - overdrive), and oh, miracle! – R – reverse! By the way, it’s a very useful function, I’ll tell you. It is very difficult to pull this mastodon, crouched to the roadside curb, with your own strength. And if the side of the road is also sloping, write: lost. Poor owners of Interstate modification goldwings, they don’t have reverse gear! Just like there is no pneumatic compressor for pumping up the rear suspension. I have! Why it is needed, however, I don’t understand. Apparently, for driving with a full load...

Oh, yes, I forgot to tell you, I never went on a trip to Europe. Life circumstances have changed, and the vacation has become shockingly short. So, I drove a little around our Russian expanses (by the way, noticeably larger than the whole of Europe) and realized that enough was enough. What I get from the car is not what I expected. In addition, the notorious strength of the chassis on our bumps turned out to be not so strong in reality. And next year I won’t go anywhere on the Gold. The reason is simple – I just didn’t like the motorcycle. On an emotional, biological level, I understand that this is not my car. Everything about her is excessive, everything about her is too much. Gold Wing, although beautiful, is a capricious, portly lady, and it takes a long time to get used to communicating with her. And in the course of communication, forgive her countless whims. And I like to find mutual understanding with motorcycles right away.

So it’s her destiny to be sold to someone who will forgive this wayward young lady all her “kinks” and “peculiarities” and will enjoy the soft seat, directional stability and the impression she makes on others. And that’s not enough for me.

IN NO WAY WE WERE SHY.

Will we be able to cope with the mastodons in the city until we get to the track? Is it easy to maneuver at low speed when the total weight of the motorcycle and rider is about half a ton? There was no room for error: the motorcycles were not their own, they were borrowed, and their total cost was about 35 thousand dollars

Both have a 6-cylinder boxer engine with a cardan drive to the rear wheel, almost absolute wind protection and simply crazy equipment designed to raise the bar of driver and passenger comfort to unprecedented heights. There is a reverse gear, windshield height adjustment, a radio with four speakers, a ticker system on the RDS radio panel (on the new model), and a supply of warm air to the hands and feet, and headlight range control, countless glove compartments and trunks. The body of any driver will fit most comfortably in a leather seat: the shape and size of its loin do not matter. Both motorcycles form a classic upright riding position, with the lower back supported by a small backrest. Very comfortable: all muscles are relaxed. If the driver still gets tired of his back and fifth point of support, the seat of the new model can be adjusted “to suit himself”. It's like in the massage chairs of executive cars.

What if you move to the passenger (or passenger) seat? Not only do you “sit high and look far away,” but you really sit as if in a limousine: a throne with armrests (under which you can hide a lot of small things), on the “fresh” model there are also all imaginable and inconceivable adjustments. Even the volume of the rear speakers can be adjusted! The chair has a large backrest, so you can at least read a book while driving. Or even drink beer (and who will forbid the passenger?) * Emotions after at least temporary possession of such luxury excite

While we were licking our eyes at all the delights of our experimental subjects, the engines warmed up. The engine of the new model is equipped with a proprietary PGM-FI injection system, so it starts instantly. In the warm-up mode, it maintains higher speeds - you don’t have to push the enrichment lever in, like on the old one. The engines of both motorcycles operate barely audibly, without mechanical noise. But there was a sound, and clearly audible: the previous owner installed it on the “wedding steamer” (that’s how we called the white “Golda”). direct flow! Have you ever seen a Gold Wing with straight flows? So, such a miracle exists in nature.

The windshield on both is height adjustable. Two levers at the edges of the dashboard release the lock and the glass can be raised or lowered. I would like an electric drive. Well, okay, we are not lazy, we won’t overstrain ourselves.

Well, let's go! No, not right away - when they rolled out of the cabin, they were forced to move backwards for a couple of meters. In the one and a half liter Gold Wing, the reverse gear is engaged with a lever located at the level of the left knee, in the new one - with a button on the right steering console (you have to specify its location, since here, in addition to the steering consoles, there are also a bunch of all sorts of switches and buttons). The “R” - “Reverse” light up on the dashboard, you press the starter button and the motorcycle moves backwards. It’s nice that the Japanese took this need into account: at the slightest slope, when the “nose” is pointing down, moving the motorcycle back while sitting in the saddle is beyond human strength. Let the horses work better.

And since we started talking about mass. It is worth mentioning that motorcycles not only have side stands (which are easy to use), but also central ones! We looked at them and thought: were the designers making such a nice joke? Do they really think that it is possible to drag such a thug onto the “pedestal” alone? (How can we not remember that the equally heavy BMW K1200LT has a stand with an electro-hydraulic drive.) And come on, we tried it - it’s even very easy to install the “gold” masses on the “central”! There is a lever on it, I pressed it with my foot - and the rear wheel is already in weight.

The fear of not being able to control the car disappeared immediately after the first click of the gearbox: after 10 km/h both hippos turned into well-trained circus animals. Whether you go slowly or quickly, the motorcycles steer easily.

GL1500

A small “jamb” was discovered: both of us (and we changed devices) had the impression that the guides in the front fork were worn out, as a result of which the motorcycle in a turn, if the wheels got into a hole, was forced to steer. There's nothing you can do about it, age is making itself felt: in 11 years, the white “Golda” has probably covered more than the 33 thousand kilometers that its non-functional odometer showed (at a motorcycle service center, repairing the device will take 3-4 hours).

The acceleration dynamics exceeded all expectations. One and a half liters of volume, crammed into six cylinders, literally shoots out like a “limousine” when the tachometer needle passes the 3000 rpm mark. With an energetic start from a traffic light, cars that decided to race with us quickly turned into specks in the wide rear-view mirrors. Acceleration is vigorous up to 140 km/h, but then the windage of the crew takes its toll and the pace weakens. The box works “like a Honda” - smoothly, without any problems. When the top gear is engaged, the OD - OverDrive symbol lights up on the dashboard (this is the top gear). Nevertheless, the motorcycle gains “kopeck piece” without much effort. This speed is affected by the insufficient torsional rigidity of the chassis - the body begins to “wobble.” The suspensions “chew” small irregularities - they won’t choke, but on large ones it breaks the front fork every now and then. This means that it is necessary to change not only the guides, but also fill the shock absorbers with more viscous oil. The rear suspension is adjustable, so it can be adjusted to almost any weight of the driver, passenger and cargo in the panniers. The option is powered by a pneumatic compressor. This function has one very convenient side effect: in the right case there is a hose with a spool sticking out, by hooking up a second special hose (it comes with the motorcycle), you can use the same compressor to inflate the wheels.

I had to push into the recesses of my brain the sportbike habit of braking only at the front and remember that sometimes on motorcycles the rear brake is also relevant. But, I must say, by today’s standards the front one is also frankly rather weak, especially when compared with the brake of the 1800.

In general, the motorcycle is very, very lively and after a little maintenance it will give the owner many thousands of interesting kilometers.

GL1800

The Gold Wing 1800 in blue gave the impression of being new. For him, a run of 32 thousand miles (about 50 thousand kilometers) is like a break-in. There is not a scratch on the body; the rubber, although worn, is still factory. It is very similar to its predecessor, however, once you take the helm, you understand that it’s the same as transferring from the helm of a TU-134 to the helm of a Boeing 747. Everything seems to be the same, only more modern. In general, the engineers inexplicably managed to make a motorcycle of such mass truly controllable. The torsional frame is also stiffer compared to its predecessor.

Dynamics are a different matter. None of us expected that such a motorcycle could jump so quickly - just open the throttle all the way! From the very bottom, the motor “snatches” you with the roar of a big cat (and the uterine purr of a cat like a tiger) and confidently pulls you, breaking the wall of air. But after 3000 rpm, the colors of the world become a little blurry, the purring turns into the sound of a fighter in afterburner, and the “blue bird” rushes forward. Of course, he doesn’t take his hands off the steering wheel, but to say in a car “during acceleration I was pressed into the back of the seat” is appropriate. The dynamics are quite comparable to a 600 cc sports-road motorcycle and half a head higher than the dynamics of the 400-horsepower BMW M5, which dared to race us from a traffic light. By the way, the old one, one and a half liter, also did not give offense. The brakes on the 1800 are sharper and more precise than on the 1500. This is a merit not only of modern mechanisms, but also of a combined braking system (when braking with the front or rear brake, the mechanisms of both come into play), which has proven itself well on the CBR1100XX SuperBlackbird model. Here the Japanese did not skimp on technical delights and pumped up the brakes to the fullest. They even installed ABS! The system will not allow the wheels to lock during emergency braking, even on a wet (and you understand, terribly slippery) road markings.

Motorcycle Honda GL 1500 SE GOLDWING SE 1994 review

Honda GL 1500 Gold Wing is another two-wheeled legend. Produced from the late 80s until the beginning of this century, it was distributed throughout all countries, everywhere being almost the standard of a motorcycle for travel. And not just a motorcycle, but a luxury touring motorcycle, capable of giving its owner such comfort that others have never dreamed of. Being a worthy successor to the traditions of the Honda Gold Wing series of touring motorcycles, the famous 1500 cc “Golda” is still very popular, despite the fact that it was replaced by the Honda Gold Wing 1800 more than ten years ago. And there are many reasons for this. . Price is one of these reasons, but it is far from the only one. Why is the Gold Wing 1500 so loved by many bikers? Probably for something that no one has surpassed it in - for comfort. When you go on a trip with it, it feels like you are riding in a house on wheels. Honda GOLD WING GL1500 – technical characteristics of a unique motorcycle

On the eve of the 15th anniversary of the Gold Wing family, Honda decided to once again update the motorcycle. In 1988 (a year before the significant date), the Honda Gold Wing GL1500 was introduced to the public.

Since the bike is positioned as an update , the design of the previously released GL1200 . However, in honor of the anniversary, the new motorcycle should receive a lot of new ideas and solutions, as a result of which only the name and style of the concern’s best motorcycle remains from the parent.

Sales and years of production

Sales plans are also being revised. If the parent was only exported, the one and a half liter wing should be offered to buyers in all countries, including Japan.

Since the model is immediately planned as an anniversary model, it will not receive any special changes during its release. Individual parts are being replaced, but there is no time for major restyling - there is a holiday coming up, for which a surprise is planned for the buyer.

The model was produced until 2000 , when it was gradually replaced by another golden wing - the Honda Gold Wing GL1800.

Even though the model has been discontinued, a Russian user can buy a bike from Japan for around $50,000 . If you take it with mileage in the Russian Federation, the price starts from 250 thousand Russian rubles.

One of the main updates to the motorcycle was the engine. Instead of the standard 4-cylinders for large models, the new wing gets 6 (. ). Opposed arrangement (angle between pistons 180 0 ), liquid cooling, carburetor.

It is curious that the model has only 2 . Each serves 3 pistons .

Large-volume and low-boost - the engine can safely be called eternal, capable of serving for a long time without major repairs, even if you are not the first owner of a motorcycle.

And also an interesting detail of the engine was the presence of hydraulic compensators for adjusting the valves .

In addition, the compression ratio has increased , power and torque have increased. To comply with Japanese emission standards, motorcycles destined for domestic markets were fitted with slightly throttled engines.

Transmission and clutch

The engine was equipped with a 5-speed gearbox .

It was of a standard type, worked well, and held all gears accurately. There were no problems finding the right or neutral.

Exceptional gear shifting accuracy is a distinctive characteristic of all Honda gearboxes.

A curious feature was the ability to reverse . By reversing the starter, the motor could roll the bike out of the garage, down a slope in a parking lot, or simply back it up.

As is common in the wing family, the main drive is a gimbal .

Brakes

The brakes are quite good and reliable even for the weight of the motorcycle.

The brakes were of interest. The motorcycle received wheels . On the front axle - 2 , on the rear - 1 . But the diameter of the rotors was the same - 285 mm . The support also used the same brackets - 2 pistons in both cases.

The stock features the brand's signature feature - combi-brakes (both brakes are activated when one is pressed). Apart from this, there were no other additional systems.

Driving performance

According to documents, the motorcycle could reach speeds of up to 193 km/h . At the same time, a comfortable cruiser varied widely from 100 to 150 km/h. The developers did not deny that, if desired, you can accelerate so much that the needle will fall, but those who like to drive at such speeds are better off looking for another model.

Dynamics

Acceleration from a standstill, as for a tourist, was also not bad. A fully loaded bike with number two on board reached the 100 km mark in 5.5 seconds .

Fuel consumption

The consumption declared by the manufacturers is 7.35 liters per 100 km . , 10 or more liters could be seen . The average distance at one gas station, according to user reviews, is 250–280 km .

Modifications

Honda GL1500 Gold Wing Special Edition is the most expensive version of improved comfort.

Since the model was originally planned as an anniversary model, design bureau engineers produced as many as 3 planned official modifications and one outside the plan.

Information on the Honda GL1500 Gold Wing motorcycle

Model of the legendary touring motorcycle Honda GL1500 Gold Wing

was first presented in 1987 at the Cologne Motorcycle Exhibition and was produced almost unchanged until 2000.

  • Honda GL1500 Aspencade
is an anniversary version of the motorcycle in honor of the release of the 500,000th model of the Honda GL1500 Gold Wing motorcycle.
  • Honda GL1500 Special Edition (SE)
is a commemorative motorcycle model in honor of the 15th anniversary of the model. It was distinguished by color paint, a ventilated windshield, the presence of additional headlights, a modern audio system, adjustable footrests and heated feet.
  • Honda GL1500 Interstate
is a budget version of the motorcycle. It was lighter in weight due to the lack of cruise control, a reverse system and the presence of a simpler audio system. In 1999 it was replaced by the Honda GL1500CF Valkyrie Interstate.

Brief history of the model

The history of the Honda GL1500 Gold Wing model has several stages:

  • A quick look at the Honda GL1500 Gold Wing motorcycle

Honda GL 1500 Gold Wing

— another two-wheeled legend.

Brief review of Honda GL 1500 Gold Wing

Honda GL 1500 Gold Wing is one of the most famous and recognizable touring motorcycles in the world. One of the representatives of the “golden-winged” line, which has many models and many decades of history, it is still very often found on the roads, despite the fact that the last Gold Wing 1500 was produced at the end of the last century. The motorcycle is distinguished not only by a huge range of different options, but also by good driving performance, as well as very high reliability.

Designed in the 80s, taking into account the experience of producing the Gold Wing 1200, this motorcycle became a logical continuation of the series. There were three modifications in total:

  • Interstate - the most budget and at the same time the lightest version, which does not have cruise control, reverse gear and is equipped with a simple audio system
  • Aspencade - Anniversary version that has everything that the Interstate lacks, and is equipped with a better music system
  • Special Edition (SE) - the top version of the Honda Gold Wing 1500, differs in other color options, heated legs, a ventilation “window” in the windshield, adjustable footrests, an improved audio system and additional headlights

Also based on the Honda Gold Wing 1500, the Honda GL1500C Valkyrie cruiser was produced, which also had several versions.

Motorcycle Honda GLX 1500 Gold Wing 1996 review

Description of the Honda GLX 1500 Gold Wing 1996 motorcycle is in the queue for publication of the article. Announcement: Today, for almost every new motorcycle that comes into being, marketers strive to carve out their own niche. This one is a road sport, this one is a recreational enduro. But what class should we include a motorcycle that has a little bit of everything? A good bike should have a reliable engine, comfortable ergonomics and simple controls...

Honda GLX 1500 Gold Wing is a motorcycle of average popularity in Russia, equipped with a fairly high-power engine of 100 hp. Despite the fact that good models of motorcycles have a very respectable price, and the season for their use is relatively short, the motorcycle market is developing rapidly. And if you believe the words of dealers, then some models of recently released motorcycles are selling like hot cakes at the beginning of the season, and the models brought to Russia are clearly not enough to fully satisfy consumer demand.

A motorcycle has long ceased to be an alternative to a car, and the times when this equipment was bought only because there was not enough money for a full-fledged car are forgotten. Nowadays, two-wheelers can be called technological marvels in many cases, and their cost can be compared with that of prestigious cars.

Many people have started buying motorcycles for hobby purposes as riding or even collecting them has become a good pastime for many people. Many motorcycles, for example the Honda GLX 1500 Gold Wing, whose technical characteristics make it possible to call the model a prestigious brand, are in demand among both beginners and experienced motorcyclists.

Currently, it is impossible to purchase a new Honda GLX 1500 Gold Wing motorcycle of the 1996 model year, since their production stopped 20 years ago. At the same time, the Honda GLX 1500 Gold Wing has excellent technical characteristics, so many are eager to purchase, if not a new, then at least a used version.

Motorcycles with an engine capacity of 1520 cc / 92.8 cub in. cube see, appeared as a result of long work of inventors who sought to create a model that was not inferior in characteristics to other versions of the motorcycle. In some cases, these models are not only not inferior, but also ahead of other motorcycles, as they have minimal fuel consumption and other excellent parameters.

Motorcycles with an engine capacity of more than 400 kb. cm, which includes the Honda GLX 1500 Gold Wing - this category of motorcycles simply cannot claim the title of “motorcycle for a beginner.” On the contrary, this is already a serious technique that requires certain control of motorcycle equipment with a smaller engine capacity. Yes, she attracts more attention, she is the most beautiful, fast, interesting and there is a huge selection of models. But as power increases, the weight of the motorcycle inevitably increases. In this class you are unlikely to find motorcycles lighter than 180 kg, unless they are the latest motorcycle models.
