TEST DRIVE: Maxiscooter Honda Forza 250 – Generation “Z”

Model features

The model was produced from 2000 to 2008. The Honda Forza 250 was produced exclusively for Japan's own market. But it had analogues intended for sales in the States (Honda Reflex) and Europe (Honda Jazz).

When developing this vehicle, the manufacturer tried to combine convenience, reliability and style in order to satisfy the needs of the most demanding customer. Few models can boast an ABS braking system, a parking brake, and many convenient little things like a spacious underseat storage rack and a socket for charging a phone or cigarette lighter.

Honda: update of the maxi-scooter line

Honda has unveiled the new Forza 125, 350 and 750 scooters for the next 2021 model year. Now, the Forza 300 isn't Honda's biggest maxi-scooter.

Honda Forza 750

The new Forza 750 is not the first Honda in this form factor with an engine of this size. In 2012 and 2013, the Honda Integra was produced with a 670 cc, and from 2014 to 2020 - with a 745 cc parallel twin and with a robotic preselective gearbox with two clutches from the Honda VFR1200. And in 2021, the Integra will give way to the Honda Forza 750.

The Forza 750 is powered by a twin-cylinder parallel 745 cc Euro 5 engine, the same one found in the Honda X-ADV and NC750X. The maximum power of the power plant for a motorcycle in the “maxi-scooter” format is 58 hp. With. at 6750 rpm (+4 hp), peak torque is reached at 4750 rpm and is 69 Newton meters (+1 Nm). The Forza's engine is tuned for better low- and mid-range performance.

The new product, like its predecessor, has a DCT robotic gearbox. Fuel consumption, despite the solid cubic capacity, is 3.6 liters per hundred kilometers, the tank is enough for 360 kilometers.

The electronics package includes traction control, four-mode throttle (one mode is customizable), a TFT display, a proximity ignition switch, a USB port and Honda's proprietary Smartphone Voice Control system for controlling music and calls while driving.

The 750th Forza will be sold only in Europe; the price and start date of sales have not yet been announced.

Honda Forza 125: what's new?

The 2021 Honda Forza 125 gets new plastics on the front, side, rear quarter and engine panels, as well as new mirrors. The update has improved the aerodynamics and appearance of the maxiscooter, in addition, it now has a more environmentally friendly Euro 5 engine with fuel-saving eSP technology, as well as traction control and a new windshield with electrical height adjustment between 40-180 millimeters. Fuel consumption of the Forza 125 is encouraging: 2.4 liters per hundred! The 11.5-liter tank is good for 480 kilometers and looks like it can be refilled once a week.

Honda Forza 350

The engine increased in displacement from 297 to 330 cubic centimeters, its power increased from 25 to 27.8 liters. With. Peak thrust is 27 Newton meters at 5750 rpm. The Forza 350's top speed has increased to 140 kilometers per hour.

Like its younger brother, the 350 is now equipped with a new windshield, adjustable from a button. The Forza 350 has a TFT display with Honda Smartphone Voice Control, which allows you to control your phone using the scooter's dashboard and its left remote control. To talk on the phone while riding, you need to additionally install a Bluetooth headset in your helmet.

Technical data

The scooter has a single cc four-stroke engine with a displacement of a quarter liter. Power reaches 22 hp. With. Transmission – automatic. At first glance at this model, it becomes clear that the technical characteristics of the Honda Forza 250 are designed for a measured, imposing driving style. A weight of 180 kilos is not so little for a 22-horsepower engine. The instrument panel is clearly visible, even in bright sun the gauge arrows are visible. An unusual red backlight is provided for night time.

The scooter is equipped with an on-board computer. The smart system itself monitors the operation of the transport. If you stop for a while, the program switches the motor to energy-saving mode. It stops working, but to start it again you just need to turn the throttle a little.

The ground clearance of this model is quite high. Unlike most scooters, the Forza can overcome quite significant road surface errors and even jump over small potholes. Here, of course, the work of the suspension also affects. According to most owners, the shock absorbers on this model are quite powerful.

Many people also note a comfortable fit. The pilot's seat is equipped with a comfortable bolster that supports the lumbar region. The landing is classic, almost straight. All controls are conveniently located and easy to access. The manufacturer also made sure that the passenger also enjoyed driving this vehicle. There are no additions like armrests or backrest, but this is still a scooter, not a cruiser motorcycle. The second seat is quite spacious and soft.

TEST DRIVE: Maxiscooter Honda Forza 250 – Generation “Z”

Honda Forza Z 250 (JBK-MF10) 2008 249 cm3 under observation since autumn 2008, 6000 km. Author: Sergey Goncharov, photo: Kirill Chernyshev from the “Used Iron” section of MOTOREVU magazine (12/2010)

MOTOGONKI.RU, February 16, 2011 — Initially, I only considered Honda. Why? I have already driven a Honda and am convinced that the equipment is reliable. The first “body” I saw was the MF08 (2007). I immediately fell for the “Forza” because of the design; it turned out later that the scooter was only 250 cc. We consulted with my wife and went to look. I really liked the layout, fit, and ergonomics. Then I found out that in 2008 the model was updated, a lot of tasty things were added to the filling: a radio, a “Smart” robotic box and much more. The decision was made, the MF10 (2008 model) was ordered, and so successfully that all the joy cost me 160,000 rubles ($4,700). Literally three weeks after signing the contract, the money changed!

While we were looking for a scooter at auctions, we saw enough different “options”: with giant mufflers, lowered ones, tuned in chrome, and so on. The Japanese are very interested in Forza 250! The one I liked turned out to be almost untouched, with 123 km on the clock.

Unusual remotes: Honda Forza Z 250

I usually drive all the way, but when it’s +5 in the morning, my hands get cold. Later, I installed a windshield, a set of heated grips and panniers. It turned out that getting accessories for this particular Forza is a problem: the model is “too new”, it is not in the catalogs, and there are no catalogs themselves. I had to ask a friend to find all sorts of things in Austria. In Moscow, everything that is not officially supplied “does not exist” for sellers. At the same time, you can easily buy an oil filter on the car market: it is compatible with some common cars. Iridium spark plugs with a long skirt are also not a problem.

“Nishtyaki” was staged by himself. I had to disassemble half of the scooter to connect the “warm handles”. While I found the necessary contacts, I studied the thick instructions. The Japanese installed the xenon himself, and apparently he also suffered a lot, but he put it back together very carefully, right next to each other. His creation also had to be removed! It’s the same story with the platform for the trunk. But there are no difficulties with the windshield. The only thing that bothers me after installation is that around 90-100 km/h with the new glass the scooter is moved on the road by a side wind. There is even a sticker on it warning that driving over 100 km/h is “prohibited”.

The suspension and base tires are not for Russia, but the brakes are super!

A leisurely drive in the Forza has a big advantage: consumption is about 3 liters (28 km per liter of AI-92), depending on the quality of the fuel and driving style. All this is in “Drive” mode, the simplest. I was very surprised! If you try to drive 120 km/h, you already get 25 km per liter.

The fork is not suitable for Russia and requires improvement: it is too soft, it breaks at speeds over 20 km/h. You drive slower, and there are no unpleasant moments, even if you lean your entire weight on the steering wheel! The tires are standard for scooters coming from Japan: Bridgestone HOOP, which doesn’t perform so well on wet roads. I tried to change it, but it turned out that only Bridgestone makes 140×70 R13 rear tires. The 140×60 R13 does everything, but if you install it, the ground clearance will decrease by one and a half centimeters. Front - 110x90 R13, everyone has it, from Kenda to Pirelli. I searched for a long time, and in the end I ordered a Michelin Gold Standard set, again, from Europe. I'll install it in the spring.

Luxury car? No, maxiscooter! High-quality motorcycle sound as standard.

Honda positions this scooter on the European market as Luxury Style - leisurely and comfortable. I saw a lot of them in Italy and Spain, especially among people living outside the city. And, of course, music! From 71 to 89 Mhz - the Japanese FM band, about eight of our stations are received, but most importantly they receive “Radio Jazz” and “Megapolis”, but I still don’t listen to others. It’s very nice and convenient to have built-in, high-quality audio, like in an expensive car.

It seems to me that this scooter is more suitable for the highway than for the city. According to the concept. Well, or for driving from the city home, to nature. It’s convenient because the ride is very soft, plus you can easily drive around lines of trucks, quickly accelerating to 130 km/h.

Honda Forza Z 250

During the test, I looked at my scooter from the side in motion for the first time. There was a very pleasant feeling, a feeling of self-sufficiency: black, glossy, looks great and everything goes with it. And he is with me! What else do you need?

Operating costs (per year): AI-92 gasoline - about 180 liters - 4030 rubles P/s oil (2 times 1.3 liters each) - 700 rubles Brake pads - 5300 rubles Spark plug - 749 rubles Air filter - 2700 rubles Total for season: 13,749 rubles (2.2 rubles/km) Add. equipment: Central case Givi E450 – 6300 rubles Side cases Givi T499 – 4469 rubles Platform for the Givi Monolock case – 2700 rubles Original Honda platform – 4700 rubles Givi windshield – 8500 rubles

Special opinion

Kirill Chernyshev, sports columnist MOTOREVU

I first became acquainted with Forza last year at one of the comparative tests. The 2005 model is a completely vegetable device, and all that was pleasing then were the brakes that were impeccable for a 250 cc scooter and the cool Idle Stop system that shuts down the engine in traffic jams. In three years, Forza has stepped through several stages of evolution and has become a luxury tourer. Even the Suzuki Burgman does not have so much technology embodied in one scooter.

Perfectly fitted high quality plastic, no hint of gaps. The built-in factory audio system, originally intended for riding, is the ideal embodiment of motorcycle sound. In the equalizer settings there are options for delivering sound through the speakers for various types of helmets: open, “integral”, and even a helmet with built-in Bluetooth headphones - so that the music can be clearly heard at any speed and in traffic. Chrome buttons, polished panels... The seat is very comfortable and soft. When you sit down in it, it’s like falling into a comfortable sofa. A combined brake system is a thing without which driving in a metropolis becomes very stressful. Previously, these were installed only on Silverwing. In 2007, Forza also received a “combi”. This scooter doesn’t even need ABS: attempts to lock the rear or front wheel on dry asphalt failed - no matter how much I pressed the levers, the Forza stopped smoothly, without disruption and clearly at the point where I planned.

7th gear!! This scooter still has something to say

The innovative S-matic gearbox seemed too technologically advanced for a scooter - why such bells and whistles? There are four modes to choose from: a traditional continuously variable variator (“D”) with a ratio of 2.450 0.800, a more “active” operating mode (“S”), with a ratio of 2.600 0.800; stepped “automatic” gearbox (“A”) and manual mode emulation, like the Suzuki Burgman (“M”). “Automatic” creates a completely new driving experience, which becomes much more dynamic, thanks to noticeably later switching between 7 steps. The “Manual” allows you to independently select the desired switching moment: the “+” and “-” buttons are located on the left remote control. As the owner of a Burgman 650 with a “manual,” I immediately wanted to test the option in action. The results exceeded all expectations: controlling the “burger” with buttons seems nervous due to the resistance provided by the 650 cc engine, the “four” Forza is controlled easily and without a hint of jerking.

According to observations, automatic gear shifting occurs around 4000 rpm, although it is possible to spin the engine up to 9000. Acceleration dynamics can be significantly improved by “tucking” the next stage at the peak of torque, around 7500 rpm. Of course, by increasing consumption, which will be instantly reported by the economizer, the scale of which is located on the panel between the speedometer and tachometer.

Push-button start: Honda used this in Forza before it became a trend

Well, the main chic: “push-button start”, a remote control system for the scooter and, at the same time, a Honda Smart Card immobilizer... The key is only needed in case the battery is removed or the battery is completely discharged. The engine will not start if the key fob is removed more than 0.6 meters. In this case, it will not be possible to get to the glove compartment, trunk, or remove the lock from the steering wheel, even after paralyzing the “brains” with an electric shock. The “casket” will not open on its own; Forza will simply “lose consciousness.”

Yamaha came to this decision only in 2007, when it showed in Tokyo the new Majesty 400 Sport, made on a keyless principle. However, the Majesty in production version will appear on the roads only in 2010, while the “smart” Forza has been traveling around the world for three years now.

“Generation Z” is a couple of years ahead of all competitors. The overall rating of the scooter after the test is five plus! A soft, very smooth and predictable device with an incredible number of gadgets that are easy to operate and at the same time very useful. There's simply nothing to complain about.

The desire of Honda Motors Co. is not entirely clear. quickly change the image of Forza. Apparently, already in 2010 we will see a completely updated not only externally, but also internally Honda Faze - the next generation of maxi with a 250 cc engine, bearing the factory index MF11.

Behavior on the road

The characteristics of the Honda Forza 250 determine the behavior of this vehicle. Fans of fast driving and maneuvering in city traffic rarely choose this model, preferring faster vehicles.

“Forza” often becomes the choice of those who are not chasing dashing tricks, but value comfort and reliability. Many drivers note that they were able to truly appreciate this vehicle while driving in pouring rain, at night or on a bad road. It is worth noting the excellent performance of the original brakes. In general, the Honda Forza 250 scooter responds quickly to commands and behaves absolutely predictably and obediently. This model can be an excellent alternative to four-wheeled transport for traveling around the city.

Motorcycle Honda NSS 250 Forza 2015 review

The description of the Honda NSS 250 Forza 2015 motorcycle is in the queue for publication of the article. Announcement: Today, for almost every new motorcycle that comes into being, marketers strive to carve out their own niche. This one is a road sport, this one is a recreational enduro. But what class should we include a motorcycle that has a little bit of everything? A good bike should have a reliable engine, comfortable ergonomics and simple controls...

Honda NSS 250 Forza is a very rare motorcycle in Russia. Despite the fact that good models of motorcycles have a very respectable price, and the season for their use is relatively short, the motorcycle market is developing rapidly. And if you believe the words of dealers, then some models of recently released motorcycles are selling like hot cakes at the beginning of the season, and the models brought to Russia are clearly not enough to fully satisfy consumer demand.

A motorcycle has long ceased to be an alternative to a car, and the times when this equipment was bought only because there was not enough money for a full-fledged car are forgotten. Nowadays, two-wheelers can be called technological marvels in many cases, and their cost can be compared with that of prestigious cars.

Many people have started buying motorcycles for hobby purposes as riding or even collecting them has become a good pastime for many people. Many motorcycles, for example the Honda NSS 250 Forza, whose technical characteristics allow the model to be called a prestigious brand, are in demand among both beginners and experienced motorcyclists.

Motorcycles with an engine capacity of 279 cc / 17.0 cub in. see, appeared as a result of long work of inventors who sought to create a model that was not inferior in characteristics to other versions of the motorcycle. In some cases, these models are not only not inferior, but also ahead of other motorcycles, as they have minimal fuel consumption and other excellent parameters.

Motorcycles from 250 to 400 kb. see which includes the Honda NSS 250 Forza - this is the most common class of motorcycles. In this range you already have a choice among almost all classes of motorcycles. Many people call this category the most suitable for a first motorcycle. You can purchase a moderately heavy, powerful and flexible motorcycle for relatively little money. Many people advise taking a road bike with a 400 cc engine as your first choice. We cannot completely agree with this, because such motorcycles often weigh about 200 kg and have a sufficient power reserve. If your skills in riding a two-wheeled vehicle are limited to a training motorcycle at a motorcycle school, then you should not immediately take such a device. Many beginners get into ridiculous accidents simply because they do not know all the features of operating such equipment. After all, the heavier and more powerful the motorcycle, the better you should know how to handle it in different situations. Even a monkey can just drive in a straight line (no joke).
