Factory motorcycle models always have average characteristics. No one will make several modifications of the same bike at once for different anthropometric data - weight, height, dimensions. But there are conceptual motorcycle salons that are directly involved in pumping up bikes coming off the assembly line, that is, tuning. Of course, very old models also fall into their hands, which have to be assembled almost anew. But the cost of such work and the enthusiasm of the craftsmen themselves can solve problems quickly and with a positive effect for both parties (customer/manufacturer). One of these salons is the Milanese “Officine Mermaid”, founded back in 2009, in one of the “mechanized” areas of Milan near Piazza Segrino, where the more famous representative of motorcycle tuning “Deus ex Machina” is located very close. In a relatively short period of time, “Officine Mermaid” with an easily recognizable logo in the form of a mermaid has turned from a small garage into a large salon, which many famous residents of not only Milan, but throughout Italy turn to to upgrade their “iron horses”. We’ll talk about the latest stellar tuning model “Ducati Scrambler” today.

The Ducati Scrambler Classic is a modern reincarnation of the iconic Ducati model of 1962, which was once discontinued. A model that combines new technologies and traditions of old motorcycle culture.
This model had its own unique specifics during the period of its production at the Ducati factories. From 1962 to 1974, the Scrambler was produced strictly for the American market, that is, for export. It was a model with a 250cc single-cylinder engine. Someone will remember the familiar silhouette, but with a more powerful 450 cubic centimeter engine. The fact is that the “Scrambler” actually had a more powerful engine, but this forced the manufacturers to change the name. That model was released under the “Jupiter” brand, in the same USA.
2015 will be marked by the revival of the Ducati Scrambler. This was announced at the Intermot exhibition last year. The retro bike will receive a new finish and will also be optimized for modern technical developments, presenting itself in the new status of a modernized motorcycle.
What was so attractive about “Scrambler” that it managed to captivate the overseas audience? Let's not beat around the bush, it took its simplicity - two wheels, a steering wheel and a not so powerful engine. All it was created for is to travel across endless expanses, admiring the surrounding landscapes and enjoying the feeling of speed. At the same time, the “Ducati Scramber” was ideal for a city dweller, without being overly large. Now the legacy of the legendary model has survived to this day, and everyone can feel the emotions of the happy owners of the bike of yesteryear.
Ducati Scrambler Full Throttle Frame
The trellis shortened tubular steel frame is finished in black to blend in with the rest of the bike. The 41mm Kayaba fork has a 24-degree angle and 112mm of ground clearance, perfect for flat-track drifting. And, if you are not that experienced a pilot, then Full Throttle feels great on asphalt, but it’s nice to know that you have the opportunity for something more.
The motorcycle has new alloy wheels with Pirelli MT 60 RS tires measuring 110/80-18 at the front and 180/55-17 at the rear, which have a road tread pattern, but with a deep profile for traveling on dirt roads, which makes the Ducati Scrambler Full Throttle a real old school scrambler.
Brembo brakes stop the motorcycle. There is a 330mm disc and four-piston caliper at the front, and a 245mm disc at the rear. The brakes are equipped with Bosch's Cornering ABS system, which calculates the available level of grip in corners and uses this data to determine the degree of intervention.

Features of the Ducati Scrambler
The bike is compact and maneuverable, it is suitable for both experienced drivers who value leisurely long-distance rides and beginners. The seating position is loose, comfortable, and comfortable even for short drivers and girls.
The design is bright, stylish, but at the same time consistent with the traditions of the 60-70s: nothing superfluous. The classic layout is complemented by an anodized tank, wide “splayed” handles, a round headlight and a striking taillight.
The motorcycle maneuvers perfectly in dense traffic and easily pulls at low speeds without dropping gears. The most comfortable speed is 90 km/h, since then the lack of wind protection begins to have a noticeable effect. One of the features of the gearbox is a long first gear, which is very cool for off-road use. Stock ABS can be disabled off-road; however, early activations are not typical for it.
The suspension is moderately stiff and does not break through on uneven surfaces. And thanks to the wide tires, the bike performs great on sand and dirt roads. It is more convenient to maneuver at medium speeds. The seat is hard and comfortable, not causing fatigue on long journeys.
The only trouble is that when driving in traffic jams your legs will get hot, since the rear cylinder is very close.
Ducati scrambler full throttle design
Fans of the American Super Hooligan Championship may recognize the design as being reminiscent of California racer Frankie Garcia's motorcycle. Metallic black and yellow 14.2 liter fuel tank with thin white line and side panels with racing number markings. The rest of the parts are painted black, which adds to the custom look. The front wing, minimized to the limit of functionality, should apparently reduce unsprung masses.
The round headlight with integrated DLR LED ring is clearly visible even on a sunny day. LED turn signals on short posts are mounted directly into the headlight itself. On the steering wheel there are completely new switches and a small round instrument panel with an LCD screen that displays all the main indicators, including an indicator of the selected gear.
The Ducati Scrambler Full Throttle motorcycle is equipped with a proprietary multimedia system, so you can connect a smartphone, a helmet headset and a proprietary navigation system from Ducati via Bluetooth.

The teardrop-shaped steel tank has removable aluminum panels, which can be changed to personalize the motorcycle. How do you like this? There's an all-new black flat saddle with yellow flat-track stitching and a tail fairing that covers the small passenger seat. The taillight and turn signals are nestled under the tail, while Ducati's massive rear mudguard has been abandoned in favor of an elegant remote bracket that holds the license plate.
Modifications

REVIEW – DUCATI Scrambler Full Throttle 2021 – stylish, powerful, memorable
At the international exhibition INTERMOT-2018, DUCATI, in addition to the Desert Sled and Cafe Racer, presented the new DUCATI Scrambler Full Throttle 2021, which replaced the model produced since 2015. All-new design, improved ergonomics, new seat, upgraded ABS, hydraulic clutch, redesigned suspension - all of these apply to the 2021 Full Throttle Scrambler and need to be reviewed in detail.
Inspired by racing
The new DUCATI Scrambler Full Throttle 2021 is reminiscent of the classic “flat trackers”, which received their name thanks to the competition - Flat Track Racing, which appeared in the twenties of the last century and was a race on an oval track with a dirt surface. As a rule, these races feature two-cylinder motorcycles, characterized by a wide handlebar, a narrow short tank and a flat seat. A prerequisite is the absence of a front brake, and the rear brake is used solely to pull the rear wheel into a controlled skid when cornering.
DUCATI Scrambler Full Throttle Design 2019
The new scrambler owes its design to the customized DUCATI Scrambler of Californian racer Frankie Garcia, who rode it in the popular American flat track championship, the American Super Hooligan Championship in 2021.

DUCATI designers took Garcia's rugged track bike and transformed it into the sleek silhouette of the new DUCATI Scrambler Full Throttle 2021, which is sure to bring a lot of fun to its owner!

The two-tone black and yellow teardrop-shaped steel tank with "DUCATI Scrambler" lettering still resembles the tank on Garcia's motorcycle. However, now it is equipped with removable aluminum side panels and in case of damage or if the owner wants to slightly refresh the image of the motorcycle, they can be replaced either with the same ones or with completely black ones from the catalog of accessories for scramblers, which, by the way, is very extensive.

The new seat height of 798 mm ensures comfort for the driver and passenger. The passenger seat is hidden under a special removable cover, which is made in the same memorable bright yellow color and organically fits into the track image of the bike. And the side covers, made in the same style, cover the unsightly seat area and complement the appearance of the motorcycle, which still resembles classic flat trackers.

Advanced lighting and ergonomics DUCATI Scrambler Full Throttle 2019
The new headlight, equipped with daytime running lights, improves the visibility of the motorcycle during daytime driving, while the LED turn signals, which have an automatic shut-off function, allow the rider to fully concentrate on the road situation. The LED headlight has a distinctive X-shaped lens that harkens back to the days when racers used duct tape to protect the headlight in a criss-cross pattern to protect it from flying rocks and debris falling onto the track if it was damaged.

The turn signals and taillight are made in a minimalist style, and the license plate frame is located on a quick-release console, emphasizing the hooligan character of the bike.

Ergonomically placed switches on the wide track handlebar make it easy to scroll through menus on the dashboard display, which includes information about fuel level in the tank, gear engaged and much more. In addition, the built-in DUCATI multimedia system allows riders to listen to music, answer incoming calls or communicate with a passenger via intercom. And under the seat there is already a USB connector for charging all kinds of accessories.
Despite the track orientation of the bike, it is equipped with informative mirrors. Although they extend slightly beyond the dimensions of the steering wheel, their height is designed for comfortable maneuvering in city traffic jams.

Updated engine DUCATI Scrambler Full Throttle 2019
Despite the striking external differences, for all DUCATI scramblers released in 2021, the power unit remains the same for all models. This is still the same magnificent, time-tested engine from the 797 “monster”. The two-cylinder L-shaped beauty with a volume of 803 cm³ and air cooling has been retuned for quick pickup from the bottom and excellent dynamics in the mid-range. In addition, the bike received a hydraulic clutch drive, which not only makes it easier to operate the clutch lever during active gear shifting, but also eliminates the need for periodic adjustment and replacement of the clutch cable.
Although the new scrambler design is quite aggressive, the engine is still as friendly as before. Compared to the previous model, the power has decreased slightly and is 73 hp. With. at 8,250 rpm versus 75 hp. With. in the previous version. However, this is only connected with the need to comply with EURO 4 standards, and the engine remains the same spirited and promises a lot of new impressions from driving a bike.
DUCATI Scrambler Full Throttle 2021 is really good on dirt roads!
Exhaust system DUCATI Scrambler Full Throttle 2019
To tame the roar of the L-Twin, the Italians installed an exquisite dual exhaust from Termignoni, and this allowed them to emphasize the perky character of the bike, without boring the rider or scaring off unwary pedestrians.
The new exhaust fits perfectly into the silhouette of the DUCATI Scrambler Full Throttle 2019
Upgraded ABS DUCATI Scrambler Full Throttle 2019
Previous scrambler models were also equipped with ABS, but the new models receive Bosch Cornering ABS - a completely new and exclusive system for motorcycles in this class. Now, if you press the brake too hard during a turn, the motorcycle wheel will not come off, but the motorcycle will begin to slow down smoothly and will allow you to confidently take the turn, regardless of its complexity and the pre-selected trajectory. This feature is especially useful for newer riders who may not know that slamming on the brakes mid-turn is not a good idea.
DUCATI Scrambler Full Throttle 2021 effortlessly corners even in deep drifts
DUCATI Scrambler Full Throttle 2021 is a very playful but friendly motorcycle, and thanks to the new anti-lock braking system, which works even when cornering on slippery dirt roads, riding it has become much safer.
The New Year 2021 simply must be a triumph for the DUCATI company and the entire family of scramblers in particular. And not only because DUCATI created a whole brand within a brand, they seemed to make us remember again why we love motorcycles, and recreated an entire culture and philosophy of unlimited pleasure from riding a bike. And now the new models of the scrambler family: Icon, Full Throttle, Desert Sled and Cafe Racer, unlike the previous ones, are motorcycles of completely different classes, but united by a common idea - to bring pleasure. No wonder the manufacturer has released a series of new products under the auspices of the slogan #Joyvolution, which, in essence, means fun and the pursuit of perfection.
Tuning the Ducati Scrambler by hand Officine Mermaid
The special style of the guys from “Officine Mermaid” is to give any model and brand of motorcycle that they get their hands on a touch of brutality, some roughness, while at the same time getting rid of unnecessary details that so often catch the eye (too high a steering wheel, a high back or additional gadgets on the body ). But despite the feigned rudeness, there is first-class execution, clear installation of all parts, smooth lines. Many parts and elements are painted manually, without automatic mechanized sprayers. Using the “Ducati Scrambler” as an example, the masters decided to demonstrate how to construct an enduro bike from a classic retro bike that captivated the hippie generation in the USA. Specific wheels, a high rear wing and upgraded shock absorbers. Even the exhaust pipe was reduced to the optimal size, according to the mechanics.
You can compare the retro model and the custom one from “Officine Mermaid” for a long time and find some shortcomings or, on the contrary, praise them for their work. But one cannot help but admit that the Italians celebrated the revival of the legendary “Ducati Scrambler” to great effect.
Ducati Scrambler Full Throttle Engine
The heart of the motorcycle is the Ducati Scrambler Full Throttle L-Twin with a volume of 803 cc. see - a 90-degree V-Twin, if you will, which has a bore of 88 mm, a stroke of 66 mm and a compression ratio of 11/1. The cylinder head has two valves per cylinder and features the company's Desmodromic valve drive system, which does not have valve springs but uses two rocker arms per valve. Although it requires more frequent maintenance, it is more reliable at high engine speeds and adds power. Maximum power is 73 hp. at 8250 rpm and torque of 66.4 Nm at 5750 rpm. Like all Scrambler 803s, the Full Throttle tops out at 120 mph in ideal conditions.
The engine has an oxygen sensor and a catalyst, which made it possible to reduce the level of exhaust gas emissions to the Euro 4 standard. The engine is air-cooled, this made the motorcycle lighter and technically simpler and made its appearance more elegant.
Intake is via a 50mm throttle body, electronic fuel injection is installed and there are no traction control systems or custom modes, leaving you to rely solely on your driving skills.
