In this review we will talk about the Suzuki Lets 5 (production years 2008-2018) - this is one of the most compact representatives of the line, a continuation of the Lets 4 model, produced four years earlier.

Thanks to its light weight and dimensions, low fuel consumption per 100 km and improved design, it has gained popularity in Japan. This review of Suzuki Lets 5 highlights the main points that are worth paying attention to.

Appearance

The scooter looks stylish and interesting in its own way. The front part is narrow and hints at a tendency to maneuver, good compactness. When viewed in profile, it is noticeable that the seat is tilted towards the steering wheel. The model acquired a recognizable rear light, which the owners loved. It is shaped like a cuirass.

The manufacturer decided to experiment with the size and location of the front turn signals, making them diamond-shaped almost the entire length of the beak. Previously, they were teardrop-shaped and did not correspond to the dynamic characteristics. At the front there is a standard headlamp with a regular triangular shape.

On the dashboard there is a speedometer with a red arrow and large symbols. There is an odometer in it, and a little to the right there is a fuel level sensor. The scooter comes with round mirrors on long stands.

As for the characteristics of the Suzuki Lets 5 scooter compared to previous models, there have been no significant changes. The scooter uses a standard transmission and engine combination, but the manufacturer has changed the size of the fuel tank. Previously, its volume was 4.5 liters; to increase driver comfort, it was decided to increase it by 0.5 liters.

The scooter is equipped with a four-stroke injection engine with a displacement of 50 cm3 and one cylinder. Power is 4.5 hp at 8000 rpm. min. This power unit is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 60 km/h.

It was bought, as they say, “to go for bread” for 30 rubles at the nearest motorcycle repair shop, where it was later serviced. It will more than replace a bicycle for traveling the same distances. For the same money.

From the first meters, it pleasantly surprised with its lightness and maneuverability (66 kg dry on a meter wheelbase (1.2 to be exact). What is needed for narrow busy streets or paths above the steep slopes of the Black Sea, along which many kilometers of the coast have been covered. Suspension in such conditions it performed well (for a scooter), for the first time it collided with the lever on the front wheel (it never engaged in rebound). The lowest point was the muffler elbow, which protruded 5 cm and was quite often subjected to strength tests in the form of rough impacts about rocks, which over time made changes in the choice of trajectory when avoiding them. Narrow wheels turned out to be a big plus when maneuvering among boulders and cobblestones. The brake handles feel similar to hydraulics, but are not as effective. Plastic, if you can compare it with the Chinese, has steel strength, withstood falls on the spot and at speed easily. The seat space is completely made of metal and holds the same volume as a regular briefcase (there was always a helmet and drink). Oil and gasoline are poured into different containers and therefore you do not have to carry a canister with you for mixing, which makes it possible not to worry about refueling at the gas station. Before each departure, you add a full tank of fuel (95) and go anywhere. A full tank of oil is enough for 700-800 km. It’s not easy to fit on it with my height of 197 cm; I have to move back to the edge of the seat. The headlight, turning along with the steering wheel when driving slowly through the fields, creates the illusion that you are walking in pitch darkness with a spotlight. There is more than enough light. Due to its size, the mirrors were constantly blocked and I had to remove my hand to use them. Over time, this became a habit and did not cause any inconvenience. At the time of writing the review, 2 seasons had passed since the purchase, during which 1500 km had been covered, about 70% of which were not in favor of asphalt (paths, slopes of fields). Due to the large amount of dust, the air filter had to be cleaned once every 2 weeks. During this time, everything that had lived out its long life was broken. The jets in the carburetor were clogged and were cleaned the same evening. The variator rollers also became unusable and were also replaced. The muffler was clogged with soot, cut, cleaned and welded. The piston rings are slowly arriving and will be replaced in the new season. The battery has become unusable (old) and will also be replaced. Thus, this equipment fully corresponds to its segment in terms of performance characteristics with the known advantages and disadvantages of 2t 50cc scooters. There are definitely more advantages.
