Design and main technical characteristics of Bajaj Dominar 400 2019

Looking from afar, the silhouette of the 2021 Bajaj Dominar 400 remains the same. Up close, some changes are still noticeable - the headlamp has become visually smaller, although the overall design and shape remains the same, the tail lamps have also been updated, giving them a fresh look while maintaining the signature design of the Bajaj Dominar 400.

The motorcycle received an inverted fork with a diameter of 43 mm and a new forked muffler can, which gives the motorcycle a “muscular” look and adds low frequencies to the exhaust. A fuel tank display has been added to the main instrument panel, showing the selected gear, time and trip information. The display on the tank is poorly positioned - to read the information, you have to take your eyes off the road. The main instrument panel now shows average fuel consumption, current fuel consumption and remaining mileage until next service. New mirrors have pillars cast from aluminum, and the steering wheel weights have become longer.

The passenger seat of the Bajaj Dominar 400 2021 has got belts to which it is convenient to attach luggage. There's a new sticker on the fuel tank and a "D" stamp on the passenger seat. The side leg received an enlarged heel so that the motorcycle rests more confidently on it. The 2021 Bajaj Dominar 400 has two color schemes - Auroral Green and Black-Grey, while white and red colors are no longer available.

Longshort Story - Hello, I'm Rivera and now I'm a motorcyclist.

An advertisement for a motorcycle school in Krasnodar promises that you will receive category “A” in 2 weeks and they did not deceive, almost. I’m 28 and for the past 10 years I’ve always wanted to be a little more mobile, to be able to get from point A to point B a little faster in city conditions and constant traffic jams, but time after time when changing vehicles it all came down to 4 wheels. I drove a lot of things, I owned a Chevrolet Niva for the last 5 years, I climbed into shit in one helmet just for myself, in winter I removed the front driveshaft from the transfer case and turned the donuts, in short, that’s all. And then it turned out that Shniva was sold without my knowledge. A long story that led me to the fact that I sit and monitor ad sites in search of a new Shnivy for myself. A day, two, three, towards mid-October. Krasnodar. Saturday, 9 am, 2 weeks off from Monday, there is free 500 thousand on the card. I woke up and looked at the ceiling and an idea just flashed through me - category “A”. I turned on the computer, poured some tea and sat down to Google. An advertisement for a motorcycle school in Krasnodar promises that you will receive category “A” in 2 weeks - 2 weeks? Sounds good. At one o’clock in the afternoon I’m in Chance, paying for my tuition and going through the medical examination, which is located in the same building. 25 thousand + 3 thousand commission I sign documents, a statement that I take the theory “on myself” and there remain 18 hours of practice on the site. On the training ground, it is mandatory to wear a helmet, if you don’t have one, they will provide one, but this whole story with the crown, etc., I decide to immediately take a helmet first. There are not many stores with equipment in Krasnodar, so as not to lie, there are about 10 of them, all are scattered around the city and 8 of them deal with IXS/HJC/MCP/China and others like them. The day is spent riding between shops on a cart and a total of 6 hours spent inside the shops looking for my helmet. In the first store, the consultant gave me some crap to try on, I don’t understand why he didn’t insist on a balaclava, but at that moment I thought that I would break my ears with a helmet, I immediately took some kind of simple silk balaclava, then things went easier. I tried everything I could, it’s not clear at all, but it’s very interesting. Until Meryl accidentally came across an AGV K-1 in one of the stores, he put it on and felt as if he was sitting in his Shniva, as if at home in his favorite and familiar chair, that is, you know, it’s yours. 16 thousand helmet and 600 rubles balaclava

I’m taking a helmet, starting Monday I’ll have a vacation and train on the site. 18 hours were completed in 4 days, on Friday there was an internal exam which was passed without any problems. And what the hell is there to take, when all the training is almost about finding neutral, a little further on I will swear like I don’t know who, when I go to pick up the motorcycle from the dealership, from the outskirts of the city, on Friday, at 6 o’clock in the evening, and to get home - you need to drive through the entire standing city. The internal exam has been passed, the dance begins with a tambourine around the State Services and the fact that they just don’t fucking work. The site is dead, I was able to apply for the exam only on the 2nd day and at 3-4 am, because this crap does not show the MREO departments, does not allow you to choose a time, the service simply does not work, etc. Somehow the application is submitted, the duty is paid, there comes an understanding that the category is already on the horizon, you need to choose the transport for the sake of which all this is being done. The exam at the traffic police was something like on Tuesday, the theory was passed and it was announced that the site would be in at least a month. WHAT?! What the hell month?! The December category definitely doesn’t suit me. Without hesitation, the person is given “motivation” and miraculously a place on the site appears on Friday. In total it costs about 5 thousand.

All this week and next I've been collecting equipment and looking at motorcycles. It was decided to distribute the budget 300/200, 300 for the motorcycle and 200 for equipment/training and that’s all/extras or motorcycle maintenance. I looked at hundreds of reviews and posts with reviews, most of all I considered the Yamaha XJ6 in plastic because of the fairing, I just liked it visually, and the reviews were good, but at some point I realized that with ABS they cost around 350. But I wanted ABS , I really wanted to. Then I come across the BMW G310R, and after it the Dominar 400, the thought settles in that maybe it’s not necessary to have 600 cc right away, I’ll always have time to change, but here the weight and power are adequate.

Ok, I have a helmet and a balaclava, I decide that I need a turtle, after looking through all the China/medbulls we have, etc., I find on Avito about a new original Dainese Jacket Wave Pro 1 in size L from a girl, somewhere in the center of the country... Avito- delivery? Great, we work, 5 days and I have a turtle. The Dainese Knee V E1 knees are also on Avito, also with the girl, but much closer, in Novorossiysk, in 2 days the post office (Avito delivery) brings them to Krasnodar. 15 thousand tortoise + 3 thousand knees, original and both I took literally the first jeans that came across that fit me normally, they turned out to be Rebelhorn Eagle II. As it turned out later, it happens that knee protection can be more comfortable, I mean the installation/removal process itself. Extremely dreary crap, but overall the jeans are ok and comfortable. 10 thousand It was meant to wear a turtle, so I tried on jackets either in it, or so that it was a little loose, but not wildly oversized. Again, I tried on many options, and then I put on Icon Automag 2 CE once, in fact, in my opinion, the only one in this city, and it just fit the way I imagined. +5 D3O defense elements, I'll take it! The gloves are also Icon - 1000 Akromont, short, combined, incredibly comfortable. 16 thousand jacket and 4 thousand gloves

I decided for myself that until I have full equipment, I won’t get on a motorcycle to go into the city, because with my luck it’s fraught. In the spring, I was hit by an adult horse at full speed, the girl rider lost control and the horse, leaving the circle, decided that I was standing in its way, but it was as if I was not aware. It arrived great, we drove home, that is, I was still conscious for 3 hours, got to the bed and switched off for 2 days. There were no physical injuries, but the fact that I was knocked out like that scared me a little.

A week has passed since passing the traffic police exams. Friday, the category was received, the V/U was updated, the motorcycle was paid for, it was the new Bajaj Dominar 400. It’s not like that’s all there was enough money for, it’s more like - I watched enough of the videos, went to the dealer just to look, and then bought it right away. The PTS was in another city, they promised to bring it in a day and they kept their promise. The motorcycle at the time of my payment cost 295, I paid 50% from the card and took 50% in installments without interest in order to extract additional profit with early repayment. A week later I paid off the installment plan and won about 5 thousand, which was nice. When I came to pick up the motorcycle, it already cost about 307 thousand. Now, as of the end of November, it’s about 340, so I got it successfully. 290 thousand motorcycle

Friday, the title was delivered, my ass is on fire - I need to pick up the motorcycle, but still no boots, I haven’t found anything comfortable for myself in a week. Literally on the way to the dealer I stop at Bike Land, start frantically trying on everything and settle on the Alpinestars Faster- 3 Rideknit SH. There were 2 mistakes, the first - because of the hard toe, I decided that it was normal that they pressed a little and seemed to spread out (later it turned out not a little), the second - they were more like basketball shoes than motorcycle boots, although their protection did not last for a month of use I had to check it, but I wanted it a little more. While you’re on a moto or literally take 2 steps, everything is fine, but as soon as I went into them in Leroy once and walked around for an hour, I cursed everything. 13.500 motorcycle boots

Beginning of November, 6 o'clock in the evening, about +4 on the street, drizzling, the whole city is standing still. The last time I had an experience on 2 wheels with an internal combustion engine was about 10 years ago, on a scooter there were 60 cubes, but here there is new technology, a lot of controls, it’s not usual in equipment, it’s not clear what to do.

The guys from the store offer to organize delivery and bring the motorcycle to the house, but I still decide to pick it up myself. At the motorcycle school we studied on Yobrik, Stealth Enduro 250 and Yamaha Phaser 250. The weight of the Dominar, twitchiness at the beginning, although thanks to the engineers for the box, the stroke is long at the foot, but it works perfectly, the general lack of rolling, attention is sprayed on everything at once. It took me about 40 minutes to get home, with 3 stops for a smoke break. 2 minutes after leaving the dealer, I was faced with the fact that the visor was sweating and microventilation with all the ports open did not help at all. I immediately learned to open the visor at every stop and close it only after a slight movement so that it could “blow out.” I moved exclusively in the right lane and in moped mode, i.e. 40-60 km/h, trying not to be stupid and with the idea of not interfering with the intense flow that goes 80+. But it still can't be smooth, right? Before the traffic jam, the body in the Qashqai was performing, hey, guess what maneuver and it’s not at all clear what it wanted, but it turned out that it hit me, driving in the far right lane, in the left elbow, apparently with the mirror. To say that I was crazy is to say nothing, naturally my hand twitched, but I held the motorcycle, pulled over right there on the side of the road, stood there, smoked, and drove on. By the way, the house is a high-rise building, a residential complex, surrounded by a fence and seemingly under cameras, but I didn’t like the idea of abandoning the newly purchased motorcycle as is. I wanted a motorcycle so much and was busy with equipment that I didn’t think about how to store it? 8 pm, I arrived home, sat down on a bench under the entrance and began Googling motorcycle shops that were still open. Found 2, phone call - I need a chain, a case, a pinlock for the helmet and a web mesh. Transfer of money to the card, thanks to the store, they immediately called Yandex delivery and sent the purchase, 30 minutes later the car arrived and brought everything. Somewhere around 7-8 thousand for all this

On the trail. day I got acquainted with wet tiles in a turn, fortunately at about zero speed, and thanks again to the engineers for the weak but standard arcs. “I slipped” and carefully placed the motorcycle on the right side.

And then a couple of training days, we got used to each other, our arms and backs relaxed, the gears began to engage by themselves without the need to constantly look at the gear indicator and tachometer, in general, we’ve been together for almost a month, we’ve driven about 500 km in the intervals between sleep and work, and I am completely satisfied with Dominar. I like the light and the overall appearance, the seating is comfortable, the instrumentation is good, except for the fact that at about zero temperatures it starts to kind of falter and renders with a delay, I’m used to the throttle. They say that Dominars are twitchy and difficult to move at near zero speeds, I have no problems with that. The people are divided 50/50, half asks “what kind of Chinese?”, and the second sees some kind of kava in him. One of these days I’ll take it to the service center for a 0 maintenance.

A couple of days after I picked it up, I went to Starline and installed V67, my god, what useless crap, it’s a pity that at that moment no one in the city had a Pandora 4400, or maybe I didn’t find it, but I’m buying the first and last one from Starline once. It came out to about 18 thousand with installation

Then we bought little things: a warm MCP balaclava with a windstopper - 1 thousand, a balaclava and thermal gloves Brubeck 2 thousand, a warm set of ODLO thermal underwear with some kind of wool - 7 thousand, a pair of default hoodies under a jacket - about 5 thousand, I took a used Ogio Mach 5 backpack from a friend 1 season for 5 thousand, Givi phone holder 3 thousand, intercom with Ali M1-S PRO 4.5 thousand - delivered by courier in 3 days and didn’t like the intercom at all, maybe I’m too picky, of course, but the sound is just disgusting, now I plan to take Cardo with JBL speakers . I liked the trigger protection from Acerbis, I took it for 3 thousand, but either I didn’t understand how to install them, or they don’t fit the steering wheel of the Dominar, I’ll have to figure it out and, as a last resort, sell it.

Of the larger ones: long gloves ALPINESTARS SP-1 V2 for about 10 thousand, boots Faster-3 put up for sale because they are small, bought Alpinestars SP-1 V2 in my size for 14 thousand, high boots Dainese Torque D1 Out Gore- have been ordered and are already on the way Tex 26 thousand, if they don’t fit, I’ll take Alpinestars SMX-Plus, although I don’t really like them. I measured Sidi from 20 to 36 thousand - I liked the tightening system, especially on the Rex, but the block is absolutely not my thing. I also ordered Icon Airflite Peacekeeper White for 24 thousand, I like it and that’s it. The motorcycle was ordered in Turkey and already delivered from GP Kompozit: windshield, center stand and trunk mount - 18 thousand for everything, including delivery to the door in 8 days from a warehouse in Turkey. Craizy Iron PRO series cage 13k.

The only thing left on my wish list is a normal central case (I don’t plan to have side cases), I like the SHAD 58X because of its variable volume, but again there’s nowhere to look at it in Krasnodar, I’m afraid that it will be too wide and I plan to go to all the stores again to see what’s on sale and Maybe just ask for a couple of volumes to be placed on the trunk. It’s also probably worth changing the standard tires, because there are absolutely no reviews on them, it’s not very clear - is it normal how it behaves in the wet, or are there some problems with it, because it feels like your “ass is floating” in the wet? In short, that's all.

And somewhere around 5 thousand more was spent on delivering all this + -

Was the money spent wisely? For my part, I think so. Someone may say that some crap was bought in some places and they could have taken something else, but I am completely satisfied with the current set of equipment. Am I on budget? Well, almost, the total spent: about 560 thousand rubles + you need to choose a case and tires.

Hello again, I'm Rivera and now I'm a motorcyclist.
