Polaris RMK snowmobile with QuickDrive2 system

Polaris RMK snowmobile with QuickDrive2 system

The RMK family of mountain snowmobiles for the spring limited edition 2021 model year will be equipped with the exclusive lightweight QuickDrive2 drive system.

The system features a low-inertia design with a low gear ratio (10%) for easy handling, high responsiveness and easy front-end lift, Polaris said in a press release.

Polaris also offers the new Series 8 tracks in 155" and 165" lengths for use with QuickDrive2. The new Series 8 tracks have optimized flex and increased toe strength.

Polaris says these tracks provide instant lift, superior traction and optimal gliding for any mountain riding style.

QuickDrive2 is available on the 2021 Polaris RMK Khaos 163 equipped with Series 7 track with three-inch lugs. The model will be available exclusively as part of the spring SnowCheck promotion.

QuickDrive2 will also be available on 2021 Polaris Pro-RMK snowmobiles in 2.75" and 3" toe lengths and track lengths up to 174". Finally, more 2021 Polaris sleds can be equipped with the Patriot 850 engine.

Patriot 650 engine

Building on the success of the Patriot 850 engine, Polaris is offering another option for the 2021 model year - the Patriot 650 engine.

Patriot 650 engine

Built for incredible reliability, the new Patriot 650 is 60% more fuel efficient, produces 10% more power and 14% more torque than the Liberty 600, Polaris says. This powerful combination makes the new Patriot 650 the unrivaled leader in the 600cc class.

Other features of the new Patriot 650 engine include optimized gas dynamics, improved throttle response, V-force throttle bodies (a first for a 600cc sled) and a new throttle body adapter. Durability was a priority when developing the engine, so this engine uses elements from the 850 cc Patriot: crankshaft, bearings and a number of other components. Also, the new fuel map makes it easier to start the engine, reduces consumption at start, exhaust smoke and spark plug coking.

Modifications

The company's production program includes modifications of snowmobiles:

  • mountain type (Polaris 800 and 850);
  • sports models (600 and variations of the 800 model);
  • crossovers (built on the chassis of models 850, 800, 600 and 550);

The Polaris 500 modification is a utilitarian type snowmobile with a single track 500 mm wide. The power unit is a 2-cylinder 85-horsepower liquid-cooled gasoline engine. The cylinder displacement is 488 cm³, and custom Mikuni carburetors are used to improve starting characteristics. The transmission of torque to the caterpillar belt is carried out by a variator equipped with a low gear and reverse.

To store the fuel supply, a tank with a capacity of 44.7 liters is used, the oil supply is in a separate container designed for 3.8 liters of liquid. Gasoline and oil are supplied to the engine separately; a reed valve is used for dosed injection of lubricant. There is no electric starter on the vehicle; a manual cable mechanism is used to start the engine.

An independent suspension is installed at the front; the distance between the ski axles is 965 mm. A Fox shock absorber is installed at the rear, providing suspension travel of up to 353 mm. To stop the Polaris snowmobile, hydraulically driven disc brakes are used.

Polaris 550

The Polaris 550 LX touring model uses a 2-stroke, 2-cylinder air-cooled power unit. The motor develops a power of 60 hp. With. with a working volume of 544 cm³. To increase engine life, the piston group is coated with Nikasil coating. Separate carburetors are used to prepare the fuel mixture, and the exhaust system is routed into a single manifold. The use of a variator ensures smooth acceleration of the Polaris Widetrack snowmobile up to a speed of 70 km/h.

The driving track is mounted on an articulated support with a shock absorber allowing a stroke of 381 mm. On the outer surface of the track links there are hooks that improve traction with the surface. The front steered skis are mounted on an independent Pro-Ride RMK suspension with additional shock absorbers. The stroke of the elements is 228 mm. Hydraulic brakes are used to stop.

Dimensions and characteristics of the Widetrak LX 550 snowmobile:

  • length - 3359 mm;
  • width - 1219 mm;
  • height (with windshield) - 1422 mm;
  • front ski track - 990 mm;
  • fuel tank capacity - 43.5 l;
  • curb weight - 238 kg.

The standard equipment includes an electric engine start system, reverse gear is activated by an electromagnet. The snowmobile is designed to carry 2 people; a windshield with additional deflectors is installed at the front.

Polaris 600

The sports utility model Polaris 600 is equipped with a 2-cylinder Liberty 600 power unit, which develops a power of 125 hp. With. To reduce fuel consumption and improve dynamic characteristics, an electronically controlled distributed fuel injection system is installed. Torque transmission is carried out by gear pairs and a variator; there is a reverse. The engine is started by an electric starter; other methods are not available.

The Polaris 600 IQ Widetrak features double A-arm ski suspension that works in conjunction with 2-way hydraulic shock absorbers. The driving track is mounted on an articulated suspension with a gas strut, providing a stroke of up to 280 mm. The passenger seat is equipped with a backrest adjustable in height and angle. Snowmobiles Polaris Indy VR1 and Switchback Assault 146 2021

Snowmobiles on the exclusive Matryx platform

The Polaris Indy VR1 and Switchback Assault 146, based on the exclusive Matryx platform, will be available as part of the SnowCheck 2021 program.

The Indy VR1's cutting-edge combination of powerful acceleration, superior handling and smart technology makes it the dominant sport sled, says Polaris. -And the Switchback Assault 146 is the best crossover of its kind, equally dominant both on and off the track.

Another feature of the Polaris Indy VR1 and Switchback Assault 146 snowmobiles is the SmartWarmers thermostat-controlled heated grips and throttle trigger.

SmartWarmers use a temperature sensor to provide a constant and adjustable flow of heat, independent of ambient temperature, Polaris says.

Other features include a NightBlade LED headlight with automotive-level brightness, and a new Lock & Ride accessory mounting system.

And for those who were unable to place a SnowCheck order, the new 2021 Polaris Indy XC Launch Edition sled will be available later. This sled will be a limited-edition sled for the season and will feature the Polaris Message Center Series instrument panel. There will be two Patriot engine options to choose from - 850 and 650.

7S Display with Ride Command

7S Display with Ride Command

Both the Indy VR1 and Polaris Switchback Assault 146 sleds will feature a new 7S display. This 7-inch interactive touch display includes exclusive Polaris Ride Command technology. Thanks to it, the rider gets access to Ride Command maps, tracking the movements of Group Ride team members, and also gets the ability to communicate with a smartphone. The touch screen responds to touches while wearing gloves and has two modes - day and night - which switch automatically depending on the light level. Steering wheel-mounted remotes allow you to explore maps, switch scales, and control phone calls and media playback.

The gauges on the dashboard can be customized by selecting the required parameters: speed, rpm, fuel level, engine temperature, battery charge level, odometer/tripmeter, altitude, compass and engine hours. A full map is available even when there is no cellular network, and the Group Ride feature ensures you don't lose track of your group members. Each trip is automatically recorded in the dashboard memory and can be downloaded via USB. The navigation screen displays not only roads, but also snowmobile trails, as well as gas stations, snack bars and overnight accommodations.

The Polaris 550 Indy uses a modern Pro-Ride double-wishbone suspension and universal RydeFX MPV gas shock absorbers. There are also Pro-Float skis made of high-strength plastic. According to the manufacturer, the use of this type of ski results in easier handling of the machine, which also affects comfort.

The versatility of this snowmobile was largely achieved thanks to the successful choice of power unit. The installed engine confidently copes with fairly large loads, which is also observed in ordinary utilitarian machines. But if we compare it completely with the same utility vehicles, then the Polaris 550 Indy Voyager allows you to move at a fairly high speed and has increased traction force, thanks to which a loaded vehicle can climb a slope without any special dynamic losses.

In general, this model turned out to be really successful and combines all the necessary qualities of modern snowmobiles: high cross-country ability, riding comfort, handling and maneuverability. Moreover, the model has low structural weight and a sporty character, which is typical for the entire Indy family.
