Review of Honda CBR 600 (f3,f4,f4i,rr): reviews, characteristics

Story

The first Honda CBR 600 with the F Hurricane prefix appeared in 1987. Sporty fit, streamlined body kit and powerful 85 hp engine. did not leave the model unattended. Now the appearance of the first generation looks a little archaic, but in its time it created a sensation.

In 1991, an updated version of the Honda CBR600 F2 appeared. It was a completely different motorcycle. Almost everything has been updated. The plastic body kit has become more aggressive, sharp lines and corners have appeared. The engine began to spin up to an impressive 12,000 rpm, while producing 100 hp. The chassis has been improved. A telescopic fork with adjustments was installed at the front, and a rebound adjustment was added at the rear pendulum.

Honda CBR 600 f3 is more of a restyling, as minimal changes have been made. There is a new telescopic fork and rear swingarm, which improves ride quality. The front brakes have been updated, as well as the shape of the plastic body kit. Honda CBR 600 f3 is the first of the modifications that began to actively conquer the domestic market.

Honda CBR 600 f4 - did not last long on the assembly line from 1999 to 2000. The model was better than its predecessors in everything, due to its sporting orientation. The weight was only 168 kg, which is almost 20 less than previous versions. This was achieved by replacing the outdated steel frame with an updated aluminum frame. The engine gained 110 hp. and 65 Nm of torque – record figures for the line. To cope with the updated characteristics, the brakes were improved, the suspension was updated and as a result, according to the passport, the motorcycle could be accelerated to 258 km/h. This was the peak of performance, which was replaced by the Honda CBR 600 f4i model.

The previous generation turned out to be quite successful for a production model, but the manufacturers decided that the motorcycle had not gotten rid of all the archaisms and installed fuel injection on the engine. This is how the Honda CBR 600 f4i appeared. The new injection system had absolutely no effect on driving characteristics. The Honda CBR 600 f4i fully retains the performance of its carburetor predecessor. The only difference is that the maximum speed has dropped noticeably. After introducing injection, do not expect the motorcycle to go faster than 223 km/h, which is 35 less than its predecessor.

The modern model, which is on the assembly line to this day, has regained its original name Honda CBR 600 F. Unlike previous generations, this can be called a dead end. The manufacturer has stopped increasing capacity and from year to year produces a popular model, which, although it has lost its flavor, continues to be sold. The engine now produces no more than 102 forces and 63 torques. With a dry weight of 170 kg and a headwind, you will reach 230 km/h, which is comparable to motorcycles from 1987. But at the same time, the bike consumes a little less fuel compared to its competitors, it is reliable and easy to ride.

Popular modifications

Honda Hornet

Honda motorcycles are distinguished by their signature design, leaving no one indifferent to fans of predatory sports cars. When reviewing Honda sports bikes, you cannot ignore the Naked Honda Hornet. Devoid of cladding, the stylish sports bike Honda CB 600 is distinguished by an open engine with a volumetric cooling radiator located in front. The motorcycle is a prominent representative of the naked class in the middle weight category.

In 2009, the bike underwent modifications based on user feedback. As evidenced by a review of opinions on the updated version, the comfort and sharpness of driving the machine have increased. Naked has a more stylish design. It is not inferior in popularity to its famous brother Honda cbr600 of the latest modification.

Experts unanimously place Honda sport bikes at the top of the list of the best examples of their class. Honda 600 motorcycles represent promising technology of the 21st century, which is confirmed by numerous photos and reviews from experts. Easy and precise control, light weight, compactness, and flawless operation of the power unit ensured that the Honda cbr600 model took first place in the ranking of modern racing motorcycles.

Operating experience

A trouble-free sport bike - this is how one can describe two modifications of the Honda CBR 600 f3 and Honda CBR 600 f4i. For those who don’t know, “sports” very often love the brains of their owners. Partly due to improper use of the equipment, but often due to its fragility. Manufacturers often implement complex but effective systems from racing versions into road versions.

For example, a clutch system or gearbox, sometimes suspension, etc. Alas, untested in real life conditions, it can easily break, and the difficulties with repairing it and the cost of the work fall on the owner’s shoulders.

Fortunately, this description does not apply to the Honda CBR 600 motorcycle. The four-cylinder engine can withstand hundreds of thousands of mileage with timely diagnosis and regular maintenance. A chronic disease is the clutch, which can seize oil starvation. For such cases, most services have ready-made kits that allow you to rid the bike of the defect.

There are other drawbacks, for example, the seating position is typical sports, but the motorcycle will live most of its life on public roads. In this regard, it is worth understanding that if you like to cut through the shrimp pose all day long through the streets of your hometown, then a motorcycle is for you! I’m not happy with the consumption, which in the “gas full throttle” mode can jump to 19 l/100 km. The rest of the time, 6-7 liters will be enough for the motorcycle.

Honda CBR600RR motorcycle review

What can I say – excellent sports equipment. You need to approach its purchase intelligently and confidently. I categorically do not recommend starting with the 600 sport, although I have such friends. The Atski motorcycle is fast, slow and maneuverable. Without calculating your strength, you can easily get out of the way, make a stop or run into something...

The motorcycle is revving, it opens at 9 thousand revolutions, and up to the blinker)) The second ends at 170 mph, the third goes for 2 hundred... At the bottom it is a moped. Of course, it also pulls in sixth gear uphill, but there is little pleasure; after all, the model is sporty and sets you up for appropriate driving.

The landing is comfortable, I don’t understand why many people criticize the “embryo” position, because it allows bumps and potholes to have less impact on the trunk of the spine, unlike, for example, the classic, straight landing.

Driving with the second number is uncomfortable for the passenger, due to the turbulence of the exhaust gases in the back area, but tolerable))

Driving in traffic jams is great! The mots are narrow and nimble. The forward flow allows the 4-wheelers to hear you in advance, and the menacing appearance allows them to move. In a low-weight coupe, the SBR600RR handles well.

The mileage for this season so far has been about 9k. During this time I changed the oil, filter, clutch discs and springs. It was possible not to change the discs, but to replace only the sagging springs (due to which the clutch began to slip), but I bought an EBC kit and decided to change everything at once. As for the rest, well, except that the flow of tuning from America still does not stop))) Conda epta!))

Good luck to everyone on the roads!

Yes, the motorcycle is cool! I've been going for 7 months now! Very satisfied! The downside is that the straight lines end very quickly ;( my speed hasn’t exceeded 263 km/h yet! The roads are crap!

I bought a 2006 six hundred in Telephone color (blue and yellow), after driving 400 km the engine began to knock. Fortunately, there is a good motor mechanic, he screwed it up and I immediately handed it over (I really feel sorry for the guy who bought it), but there was nothing to do. As a result, I spent the whole season looking at motorcyclists and licking my lips. Advice - buy motorbikes with a good motor mechanic or in trusted places, and I emphasize, do not trust anyone. Good luck to everyone on the roads!

The motorcycle is perfect. I've been driving for a year, I only changed the plastic and, of course, the tires. If you take proper and good care of him, he will reward you with good service and cheerful behavior. For me this is the best bike! Before that I had a Suzuki 750 - to be honest, I felt that this was not it and gave it up. Now only HONDA! Good luck on the roads.

1. I'll start with the gearbox.

The box is excellent and quite soft, but everything is within normal limits. The gears shift smoothly and neutral is very easy to catch. I already own the second device of this brand and have never had any problems with the box. Very reliable, as is the engine.

2. The engine is elastic, especially up to 7000 rpm. After 7 it gives heat, but again exactly without jerking and without fury, which forgives many mistakes. Maximum speed 260km/h.

3. The head light leaves much to be desired, can be treated by replacing it with bi-xenon.

4.Control leaves a very pleasant feeling. The motorcycle is quite light and maneuverable. There are no problems with handling in traffic on the highway or in the city.

5.The mirrors are conveniently located on the front sides of the fairing body, there are no vibrations on the mirrors, all areas are visible quite well.

6. Landing. It depends on who. I'm 180cm tall. It wasn’t very comfortable on long trips at high speeds; you have to lie down on the tank, but you can’t sit for that long and your back and arms become numb. Basically, the entire body weight is transferred to the hands and forearms, which quickly tires not only the arms but also the back. You can only relax with a straight back at a cruising speed of 120-140 km. If you want to drive 160 km/h or more, you will have to lie down on the tank. But I will add that I sat on many versions of sport bikes from different manufacturers when choosing a motorcycle and I will say that in terms of suspension stiffness, seat softness, seat comfort and compactness, this is the best motorcycle both for the track and for the city.

7. Suspension. Excellent shock absorber, lots of adjustments. Customize it the way you want. The softness of the suspension is also compensated by the soft seat. The fifth point did not get tired even after 200 km. ride without getting off the motorcycle.

During the entire period of operation, only one problem arose after washing, but it was my own fault. I didn’t notice and filled in everything that was possible under the Karcher. I had to wash all the chips. The low beam lamp burned out, the stopper stopped responding to the front brake lever, and the worst thing was that the Hall sensor burned out. (crankshaft position sensor) or, more simply, a speed sensor. Due to this, the speedometer and mileage readings on the dashboard stopped working. Plus the engine is not working properly - the mixture is supplied. The motorcycle simply refused to go beyond 50. The light was changed to xenon. The contact in the front brake handle lubricated the HP. I bought the Hall sensor at a disassembly site for 800 rubles and replaced it. All problems were resolved automatically.

The only problem is the timing chain tensioner (new 2590 RUR) which rings from 2000 to 5000 rpm. but it doesn't affect the circuit in any way. Factory defect in the tensioner itself. It can be treated by replacing it with a new one, the latest modification with the end of the catalog number J23 and two blue dots on the tensioner itself.

Fuel tank capacity 18 l. enough for 250 - 270 km. Speed limit from 110 to 200 km.h

Perhaps that's all. I'm actually very pleased with the motorcycle. There are both disadvantages and advantages, but the disadvantages are more about comfort, and what kind of comfort is there... this is sport))) and speed. There are other motorcycles, you say for comfort and I agree.

Good luck to everyone on the roads, take care of yourself.

Racing replica

The Honda CBR 600 RR stands apart from the rest. The motorcycle was created as a road interpretation of a real sports model. Well, due to its suitable appearance and cubic capacity, it was placed in the Honda CBR 600 line. Production of the sport began in 2003 and continues successfully to this day. This model made it possible to outshine competitors who were lighter and more maneuverable than the standard Honda CBR 600 motorcycle. The manufacturer left one of the best-selling bikes alone, leaving it unique, but every speed fan can buy a Honda CBR 600 rr.

Technical characteristics of the Honda CBR 600 RR

There are enough differences in technical design. It’s worth starting with the fact that initially the Honda CBR 600 rr was equipped with a lightweight aluminum frame. As a result, the updated models have continuously reduced their dry weight from 168 to 155 kg. Oversized brakes. At the front there is a pair of 310 mm discs stopped by 4-piston calipers. At the rear there is a single-piston caliper and a disc with a diameter of 210 mm. The latest version has an ABS system installed as an option.

The engine is a forced 600cc unit with an injection system. Power from 117 to 120 hp, at 13000-135000 rpm. Torque 66 Nm.

Technical characteristics of the Honda CBR 600RR motorcycle (2014)

A modern sportbike can be uncompromising. Tuned for maximum performance, things like comfort, ease of use and everyday practicality tend to go out the window. As for the Honda CBR600RR , these features were carefully incorporated into the overall concept from the very beginning. There's no doubt that the Honda CBR600RR ABS have been at the forefront of the fight for 600 class supremacy since its introduction; in fact, he just won the Canadian National Championship for the third year in a row. But perhaps even more impressive than its long list of races and championship wins is its reputation on the street as a fully functional everyday bike with superior durability. Perhaps it was this reputation for durability that led to the Honda CBR600RR being chosen as the basis for the World Motor 2 Championship race cars.

Honda CBR600RR ABS - Track or Street

The CBR600RR ABS is a masterpiece of racing engineering that continually raises the bar on both track and road. Its ultra-light weight, mass centralization and compact chassis ensure its blister power is balanced by simplicity, natural handling and impeccable road manners. Its powerful engine delivers instant, exhilarating torque, while its fairing is aggressively aerodynamic, enhancing stability and allowing you to enjoy the machine's performance to the fullest. The innovative design uses smaller diameter pistons to maintain high oil velocities for improved damping characteristics and an extended adjustment range. The result: you get more precise suspension characteristics, especially over small surface irregularities.
Radial mounted front brake calipers
  • The Honda CBR600RR uses monobloc radial front brake calipers. This design makes the caliper stiffer, meaning you get better braking feel for a more linear, powerful stop. Each caliper also uses four chromed aluminum pistons for smooth, friction-free operation.
Honda electronic steering damper
  • Center-mounted fuel tank 4. The Honda CBR600RR's is located in the center of the chassis and low in the frame. This allows for a more compact design, but more importantly helps centralize the mass of the bike. Increased mass centralization means the CBR is more responsive to rider input, especially when the bike is leaning or standing at exit. Pro - Link Suspension By eliminating the frame-mounted top shock mount, Unit Pro-Link isolates the chassis from shock, resulting in more precise handling and better traction. Developed from Honda's championship-winning MotoGP motorcycles, it is a fine example of CBR's superior engineering.
Electronic combined anti-lock braking system (C-ABS)
  • The all-new electronically controlled C-ABS distributes braking force across both wheels, helping to maintain braking confidence in less-than-ideal conditions. Honda CBR 600 RR in real life

If the standard version still copes well with the conditions of city life, then the advisability of owning such a version of the bike is quite doubtful. This is due to the special nature of the model. So, you won’t be able to refuel for reasons of economy, otherwise you’ll immediately set aside funds for repairing the injectors. Therefore, even before purchasing, look for the best gas stations in the city.

The second nuance is a sporty disposition. Exceptional response to the throttle, as well as sharp maneuvers when tilting the body, are a sign of an excellent motorcycle for an experienced rider. A motorcycle can not only frighten a beginner, but also, in the absence of appropriate skills, throw it off.

You will have to spend almost all your time in the shrimp position; if you don’t agree, choose another bike.

On the other side of the scale are excellent dynamics, handling, an exciting exhaust note and excellent appearance. When buying such a motorcycle, you should know what you are getting into. This is not a forgiving Honda CBR 600 f4i, but pure speed and fury wrapped in a shell of aluminum and plastic.
