Motorcycle Ducati Multistrada 1000 DS 2005 review

Once upon a time, Ducati, who was a real monster in the Italian motorcycle industry, decided to create the most universal, and at the same time the most unimaginable bike. It had to be a motorcycle that would be equally interesting to both those who like to ride with the wind and all kinds of leisurely tourists.

Also, this bike should be suitable for those who languish in metropolitan traffic jams. The main idea formed the concept and basis for the development of just this motorbike. As a result, the Ducati Mulristrada bike was born.

Ducati Multistrada motorcycle

The very first time the world saw this motorcycle was back in 2009, in Milan at the EICMA event. The main basis for the creation of this motorcycle belonged to the Ducati 1198 model, which also gained a large share of popularity at a certain time. Only now the Multistrada has become more refined and new in style and thinking.

For example, the developers added to their new creation those innovations that were used in races such as MotoGP or WSBK.

Concept

If we describe the overall concept of this motorcycle in simple words, then the easiest way is to describe it according to the client's requirements. Thus, the Ducati Multistrada motorcycle fully meets the following requirements:

  1. Beautiful motorcycle;
  2. Fast;
  3. Can drive both on road and off-road;
  4. Spacious trunk;
  5. Maneuverability;
  6. Convenience;
  7. Easy to operate.

In reality, all these requirements for a motorcycle, voiced by beginners, can be confusing. In such cases, the manager usually sets himself only one task - to select some optimal compromise with the average parameters for the requests.

Fortunately, the Ducati organization has taken a radically different path - it has created a unique, uncompromising and non-competitive bike that fully meets the stated requirements. The idea of this motorcycle (Ducati Multistrada 1200) is based on 4 fundamentals of handling and terrain conditions. These are Urban (city), Sport (high speed), Enduro (off-road driving) and Tourism (that is, ride comfort).

The model name (Multistrada) has a triplet “multi”, and it indicates that this motorcycle is capable of solving a large number of different tasks. Therefore, we can call this motorcycle a universal, real touring-enduro with a magnificent appearance, sporty character and charisma.

Ducati 1000 Sport

Welcome! A biker will never be alone. “All About Moto” is living proof of this. Our site informs about the release of the most unusual bikes. We also tell our compatriots about the best MS...

Moto 1000 from Ducati

The Ducati 1000 Sport motorcycle has a wide variety of equipment. The bike has a fairly comfortable two-seater seat, and also has very comfortable textured handlebars.

The bike was equipped with two classic shock absorbers. Featuring a removable rear seat cover, this motorcycle exudes the chic and unique style called "Cafe Racer".

The Ducati 1000 Sport motorcycle has been designed as a high-quality two-wheeled motorcycle machine. This concerns, first of all, the bike’s configuration, which uses a modern 43 mm Marzocchi front fork. This inverted iron horse element features a classic brushed aluminum surface. The rear suspension was created in the form of a massive 60mm swingarm with a pair of adjacent fully adjustable Sachs-type shock absorbers.

In addition to the above, we note that the suspension layout was done in order to provide the bike with classic charm, as well as demonstrate the superior grip properties of the Ducati Sport.

Description of the Ducati 1000 Sport motorcycle

This iron horse has an ultra-modern frame. Note that its tubular design using chrome-molybdenum steel became very reliable and beautiful overnight.

Special words should be said about the angle of inclination of its front fork, which is 24 degrees. This brings new advantages to the handling of the bike, increasing its stability on the track.

The front brake is a pair of semi-floating discs with two piston calipers. The rear brake system boasts a smaller diameter disc and a single-piston caliper.

The Ducati 1000 Sport motorcycle has compact wheels with size 17. The bike also has a compact fuel tank that holds 15 liters of gasoline. The latter's reserve includes a volume of 3.5 liters. At the same time, the weight of the motorcycle reaches 182 kg.

The Ducati Sport 1000 has a highly functional instrument panel. It houses a speedometer, tachometer, high beam indicator, turn indicators, as well as a fuel level indicator, emergency oil pressure indicator and a neutral gear indicator.

Exterior

At the very first and quick glance at this piece of technological art, you will find that its silhouette was as if drawn on a sheet of paper, and drawn with creative, bold and quite rich strokes. The design, together with its dynamics, is emphasized by combinations of several contrasting colors for the casing of the main body. The entire exterior is not just tasteful, but also sophisticated, and in the entire appearance of this motorcycle you can trace the corporate style and Italian charm of the Ducati organization.

The front twin headlights of this bike are equipped with the latest and most modern optics, which, in turn, are equipped with additional LEDs. As for wind protection, there is a high windshield that can be adjusted if necessary. And the mechanism of this glass is quite simple and intuitive for anyone.

There are several advanced information sensors on the dashboard, and compact but spacious glove compartments are mounted on either side of it. The “humpbacked” and narrow tank combined with a wide handlebar is what gives the bike a certain amount of old school and rare features that are mandatory for motorcycle schools in Italy.

The 17-inch wheels are shod with professional, wear-resistant Scorpion Trail tires. These tires were invented, developed and put into production by the Pirelli organization, and they did all this just for this model. The tires here are not only the fastest, but also allow you to ride on slopes of up to 45°.

Enduro Ducati Multistrada

Hi all! Something, after all, prompted me to finish writing this post about the cartoon and share with you, friends, my impressions about this motorcycle. I tried to present it constructively :)

In the previous post, I wrote about how my acquaintance with Ducati began, straight from the long distance.:) To be honest, I never experienced any particular difficulties with the new equipment - I sat down and went. It was the same with the cartoon. For the first 30 minutes I struggled when turning off the gas. I had to drive along the dead shoulder and through a traffic jam to exit Novosibirsk - everything was ok. This should probably speak about the friendliness of Italian technology.

The first problem appeared after a couple of kilometers of travel - after stopping to buy a car in the trailer to undergo a technical inspection and take out insurance, the starter almost did not turn, as if the battery had died. It’s okay, I thought, the bike is not new and the battery is probably dead. Having tormented him, he nevertheless started him up and drove him home. Along the way, the problem appeared, but not constantly, which confirmed the theory of dead batteries, nope. Having foolishly bought a new battery, I realized that this was not the problem at all. STARTER! O_o Yes, the brushes received a great deal. And if it’s the one that comes to the brushes, you end up with this:

Brushes from a Muscovite were sharpened and installed, they worked until recently, after which the procedure had to be repeated. Either because of the ugly brushes, or because of the frequent use of the starter, they only lasted about six thousand km. It is worth adding that when the brushes wear out, the starter armature also suffers. If the brushes do not fit tightly, the copper contacts simply burn out and if the brush hits the burnt contact, you will only hear a single “click” of the starter relay. The problem, most likely, is only with my specimen; I was unlucky enough to get it on worn brushes and, as a result, unknowingly, a burnt anchor. Turning the contacts on a lathe solves the problem, by the way. I believe that this will be useful not only for Ducatists :)

Well, now about the generally known. Fuel sensor. Yes, in the first cartoons this son of a bitch lies shamelessly.:) It shows full when the tank is full, but otherwise there is no trust in it. I couldn’t even identify the system; I rely on mileage, and more often than not, on sensations. Never dried out

Clutch. A controversial point, of course. More finicky, walks less, makes loud noise - these are the facts. The only advantages I can include are subjective aspects: the same loud sound and the beauty of “something spinning” on the engine. The last one is about the open lid and the beautiful pressure plate. If anyone knows any other advantages, please write, I’m interested. The original clutch kit was replaced after a couple of thousand miles. It worked great, but it made a whining noise when starting off - unpleasant.

Timing belts. I replaced it and forgot about it.:) After 5k I remembered, looked, forgot again. After another 5 I replaced it, I forgot. Continue? Unpleasant crap. For civilian motorcycles, the desmo drive does not provide any advantages, but it does give a serious pain in the ass. There are constantly Vasyans who wear out the belts and end up with a new engine. I think this is anti-concern for the consumer. I need to go on a long-haul trip for 12-15 thousand, and this means replacing belts in an incomprehensible place. It’s quite doable in the field, but not everyone will do it - it’s not like changing the oil! In general, insanity, honestly. It’s just as infuriating as crappy roads that you can’t get rid of and that no one does. It's boiling.

It should be noted that due to the age of the motorcycle, all sorts of rubber “things” become unusable. A couple of these “things” recently gave me trouble.

Who would have thought…

We continue to pour out shitty constructive criticism.

Brain. The most unpleasant part of the motorcycle for me.:( Unpleasant because I myself cannot understand it and fix it, if something happens. A check appears periodically, then disappears on its own, the XX speed may itself become higher or lower, and it can sometimes sneeze, accompanied by checks. As a rule, everything settles down on its own, but damn, that’s not the point. Now, just after a trip on dirty ground and subsequent washing, it began to glitch. The XX revs increased, and it began to warm up in traffic jams (which is understandable). The problem can be solved by resetting errors in the brain, but to do this you need to go to the dealer, which costs time and money

Exhaust system. Again, they say I’m the only one.:) Apparently, I’m also alone in the fact that I use the motorcycle for its intended purpose, overcoming not only asphalt. The problem is this: when getting out onto a normal road from various kinds of off-road shit, you often have to overcome ditches and curbs (curb. Hello, Peter!). But this stupid can, which hangs very incorrectly (in my opinion), always gets caught on something. Thus, cuts appear at the joints of the pipes, which then make the pants smell bad. Bue. I came to visit, and you stink of exhaust - great. And as soon as this thing is fixed, history repeats itself. Well, you get the idea. It can be treated by installing a route without a catalyst (from the cylinders to the junction into one pipe).

Wind protection. Even with the tempered glass it’s very so-so.:) Of course, not naked, but not gold either. For comfortable movement along the highway, you need to install additional glass, which is mounted on top of the shield and the original glass, and the height is approximately at the level of the helmet. According to reviews, 160 does not blow. I didn’t have time to buy it - I regret it

Dirt protection. He throws his legs up shamelessly. The wing is semi-decorative and requires some work. The situation is better at the rear, especially after installing the hugger.

Light. In the stock there is a threshing floor, as on most motorcycles.:) Fortunately, there is a lens in the near area - I installed xenon and now everything is fine. Even with a dark visor I drove at night - it was fine

Despite all of the above, the cartoon has never let me down. It didn’t break down on the road, didn’t dry out, and didn’t even puncture the wheels. This is the result of criticism :)

UPD: Due to the negative sentiment towards the motorcycle after reading the post, I would like to remind you that all the shortcomings do not lead to the breakdown of the motorcycle and can be eliminated without giant forces. Some of them apply only to my copy, while others are considered shortcomings only by me. - Now about the good stuff. The motorcycle is light (for a tourist), which makes it easy to control. I ride gymkhana on it.

Due to the narrow silhouette, it is beautiful in traffic jams.:) I stand very rarely. It was not possible to overheat in the city (105 is the maximum), but it is worth noting that at traffic lights longer than a minute it was deafening. The L-shape does not suffer when dropped without any arcs. A couple of times there was a situation where I forgot to disarm the alarm and, out of fear, tried to quickly find the key fob in my pocket and, forgetting to hold the motorcycle, put it on its side. It fits exactly on the weight (or foot) and the passenger’s footrest. Even with the steering wheel turned, the front fender and plastic do not suffer. Although, how to apply With panniers (35-40kg) only the dimensions change and very willingly lifts the wheel into the air, otherwise everything is the same.:) Cruising speed is 140-180, holds easily, there is a reserve. Accelerated to 230 - 8500 rpm, limiter. The brakes are excellent, Brembo is stock, but the rear one is almost uninformative. Consumption depends on driving style, falling within the range of 6-8 liters per kilometer. I really like the sound, especially under load in the range of 3.5-4 thousand rpm, eh! Add to this decent acceleration and it’s just a fairy tale!:) The seat is quite wide, clearly has two positions - near the tank in the hole and close to the passenger seat, on the wide part. According to reviews, it needs some work, but for me everything is in order. It’s comfortable in the city and at distances of up to 200 km, but the gel pad makes it easier to ’s not easy to ride in a stand-up position, but it’s comfortable to sit in, the seating position is almost upright. The steering wheel is comfortable, but in traffic jams it matches the mirrors of most boxes. Probably, after buying glass, I will make the steering wheel a little higher (not because of traffic jams).

As for the renovation, everything is fine. Consumables (with the exception of belts) are the same as everyone else’s, and disassembling one or another is often easier than on the Japanese. The monopendulum makes removing the wheel a matter of 1 minute, or even less; after removing the tank, you have the frame, wiring and engine in front of your eyes, everything is easily accessible.

— I’ll add if I remember anything or ask.

Extras Clutch cylinder, xenon, hand protection, hugger, glass, mirrors, disc painting, open clutch cover (self-propelled), USB charging, signaling, footrests, brake and clutch pads

Repair Oil pressure sensor, starter, exhaust route

Maintenance Belts, clutch, valve adjustment

Conclusions This is a Ducati.:) When I chose it, I didn’t know about everything described above, and it’s unlikely that it would have made me change my choice. It is comfortable both in the city and on the highway, it is not like everyone else. Yes, it is more expensive to maintain, yes, they will tell you that your engine is broken and that it is some new Chinese and that “why not a Honda?”, but this will only make you have fun, because it will rattle the bolts in a bucket and you can go, not them

PS: as for my motorcycle specifically, I don’t regret having it. I found out what Ducati is and was not disappointed. I'm selling the cartoon, but I'm selling it to buy a new cartoon. So it goes. Good luck on the roads, guys!

Motorcycle Ducati Multistrada 1000 DS 2005 review

The description of the Ducati Multistrada 1000 DS 2005 motorcycle is in the queue for publication of the article. Announcement: Today, for almost every new motorcycle that comes into being, marketers strive to carve out their own niche. This one is a road sport, this one is a recreational enduro. But what class should we include a motorcycle that has a little bit of everything? A good bike should have a reliable engine, comfortable ergonomics and simple controls...

The Ducati Multistrada 1000 DS is a rare motorcycle in Russia equipped with a fairly high-power engine of 92 hp. Despite the fact that good models of motorcycles have a very respectable price, and the season for their use is relatively short, the motorcycle market is developing rapidly. And if you believe the words of dealers, then some models of recently released motorcycles are selling like hot cakes at the beginning of the season, and the models brought to Russia are clearly not enough to fully satisfy consumer demand.

A motorcycle has long ceased to be an alternative to a car, and the times when this equipment was bought only because there was not enough money for a full-fledged car are forgotten. Nowadays, two-wheelers can be called technological marvels in many cases, and their cost can be compared with that of prestigious cars.

Many people have started buying motorcycles for hobby purposes as riding or even collecting them has become a good pastime for many people. Many motorcycles, for example the Ducati Multistrada 1000 DS, whose technical characteristics allow the model to be called a prestigious brand, are in demand among both beginners and experienced motorcyclists.

Motorcycles with an engine capacity of 992 cc. see, appeared as a result of long work of inventors who sought to create a model that was not inferior in characteristics to other versions of the motorcycle. In some cases, these models are not only not inferior, but also ahead of other motorcycles, as they have minimal fuel consumption and other excellent parameters.

Motorcycles with an engine capacity of more than 400 kb. cm, which includes the Ducati Multistrada 1000 DS - this category of motorcycles simply cannot claim the title of “motorcycle for a beginner.” On the contrary, this is already a serious technique that requires certain control of motorcycle equipment with a smaller engine capacity. Yes, she attracts more attention, she is the most beautiful, fast, interesting and there is a huge selection of models. But as power increases, the weight of the motorcycle inevitably increases. In this class you are unlikely to find motorcycles lighter than 180 kg, unless they are the latest motorcycle models.

Go to the entire range of Ducati motorcycles, on this page you can find Ducati Multistrada 1000 DS motorcycles from other years of production and information about them
