Japanese motorcyclesYamaha motorcycles
The struggle for consumers among motorcycle manufacturers is no worse than among automakers.
Japanese companies have long been one of the leading positions in the ranking of motorcycle manufacturers, and each of them is trying to interest buyers as much as possible.
The Japanese go to great lengths in their quest to be first. Proof of this is the rather interesting model of the Yamaha Warrior XV 1700 motorcycle.
Officially, the Warrior 1700 belongs to the “cruiser” class.
But in appearance he doesn’t really fit into this class. And in some characteristics it is not inferior to sportbikes .
As a result, the Yamaha Warrior is a sort of sportbike in the guise of a cruiser.
Appearance
The Yamaha XV 1700 Warrior looks the way a bike of this class should probably look. Gloss black frame, matte black seat, chrome tail light, mirrors and exhaust. The latter is the first to catch your eye due to its size and impressive style.
The wheels here are alloy and do not stand out from the general background. As a cruiser should ideally be, the working parts are somewhat visible, but not too much: a little more than on road motorcycles, much more than on a sportbike or cross-country motorcycle, but not as much as on a retro classic. Almost all visible parts of the “filling” are chrome-plated.
Photo gallery
When you see the handsome Road Star Warrior 1700 for the first time, it’s hard to remain indifferent to its appearance. A flying silhouette, a powerful and beautiful engine in every detail, cast three-spoke wheels and much more interesting things. However, look at it yourself, thanks to our photo selection you have this opportunity.
Comfort
This is a convenient vehicle for two people, but not the safest. Firstly, there is no backrest behind the passenger seat to protect against falling. Secondly, there is no protection on the sides (but this is not practiced on cruisers in principle).
Due to the fact that the car is large, there is not much difference between driving alone and with a passenger. The bike is inconvenient for maneuvering in a narrow space, for example, in a yard. The element of this motorcycle is a smooth country highway and average speed. It is under such operating conditions that the bike will please the owner the most.
Motorcycle design
To lighten the weight of the motorcycle, all its components are mounted on an aluminum duplex frame , but so that it does not stand out from the general concept of the motorcycle, it is painted black.
The tank is drop-shaped, quite wide, but its capacity is not very large.
The transition from tank to seat is made smooth.
The driver's seat is quite large with good anatomical shape , but the passenger gets a narrow, short seat that clearly cannot be called comfortable.
Under the tank is a V-shaped air-cooled power unit. The motorcycle's power supply system is installed in the cylinder camber; air filters are installed on the sides between the cylinders.
The entire structure of the power unit turned out to be knocked down, without the visibility of any elements that do not fit into the design.
The exhaust gas exhaust system is one-sided and located on the right. One elbow comes out of each cylinder, then they are combined into one dimensional pipe.
The gearbox is 5-speed, manual and with foot shift , but the creators made the drive to the drive wheel V-belt.
Initially, the motorcycle was equipped with three-spoke wheels, but later they were replaced with five-spoke wheels. The brake system for the Yamaha Warrior XV 1700 was borrowed from the YZF-R1 sports bike.
The suspension of the Yamaha Warrior consists of an inverted telescopic front fork. A monoshock absorber, familiar to motorcycles of this class, is installed at the rear.
Dimensions and weight
The dimensions of this car are, of course, impressive, but it is not yet the largest cruiser. However, if a person has never driven such large bikes before, this model will still seem gigantic to him. So this motorcycle is more suitable for those who have previously ridden at least a small representative of the cruiser class.
Yamaha XV 1700 Warrior dimensions are as follows:
- curb weight – 295 kg;
- seat height – 725 mm;
- ground clearance - 157 mm;
- wheelbase – 1665 mm;
- height – 1120 mm;
- width – 955 mm;
- length – 2385 mm;
- tank volume – 15 l.
The wheelbase is impressive, but average for a cruiser. If you compare this bike with other representatives of the class in photos and videos, it will become noticeable that it is not particularly large compared to the largest motorcycles in this category. The tank volume is impressive, but do not forget about the considerable fuel consumption.
Estimated cost
Production of the Yamaha Warrior XV 1700 stopped in 2010, but this motorcycle was remarkable and was eagerly purchased .
it is not rare on , although its cost is not very small.
The price range for the Yamaha Warrior is very wide and mostly depends on the condition of the motorcycle.
So the minimum cost for it starts from the amount of 330,000 rubles. and reaches the mark of 900,000 rubles.

Specifications
In terms of its parameters, this is a powerful machine. It is capable of reaching speeds that are not at all required for a cruiser. Acceleration here is so fast that it can compare with other modern sports bikes from Kawasaki, Honda or Yamaha.
And therefore you should not use these parameters to their full potential. Unless on the race track, and even then this is a dubious decision. After all, the pleasure of riding a cruiser does not come from speed at all, although it does not occupy the last place.

The car is equipped with good brakes, but even they will have a hard time coping with the large equipment if it accelerates at full power. It's clear from the suspension travel that this bike is designed for the trail and nothing else. The ground clearance speaks no less eloquently about this.
What do the owners say?
Judging by the reviews of the owners, it is not difficult to get a used car, but it is unlikely that you will be able to purchase a new bike. However, given the quality of this model, it will be possible to find a bike in good condition. The main thing is to understand the equipment in order to be able to assess its condition before purchasing.
Parts can still be easily obtained considering how much most parts cost. They say that in small towns this sometimes poses problems, but given delivery, such difficulties can be easily solved. In at least one review, an owner from a remote village reports having no problems maintaining the bike.
The car is bright, dynamic and, as described by many, is capable of performing well on the race track. However, experienced owners advise not to abuse the capabilities of the motorcycle. It's a cruiser, not hard to accelerate, but not so easy to stop or control.
If you use this car correctly, driving will bring you nothing but pleasure. They note that the bike’s seating position is comfortable, at least more comfortable than on many other classmates of this model. At the same time, of course, beginners are not advised to purchase such a bike, because its character is too violent.
In conclusion, it is worth noting that the Yamaha XV 1700 Warrior is an excellent bike not only for its era, but also for modern times. So far, the model is not ideologically outdated. This is still one of the most modern cruisers, both in appearance and in technical characteristics. Of course, in thirty years it will already look like a classic from the beginning of the century, but now it is not even close to outdated.
Review of the Yamaha XV1700 motorcycle (XV1700A, Road Star, Warrior, Silverado)
Yamaha XV1700 Warrior. I dreamed about Var for many years, but did not buy it because of its big drawback - its high price. And then suddenly I found the money, sold my Dragstar and the dream came true. And this beautiful motorcycle, in a pleasant dark purple color with factory airbrushing, sits in my garage. Not one photo conveys all the beauty of this motorcycle. Only in real life do you see all these lines, a muffler the size of a large fire extinguisher, just a huge and very beautiful engine, a wide tank, and a 200mm wide rear roller. The huge muffler gives it an aggressive look. At first I wanted to install direct flow, but after that it seemed to me that without this muffler something would be wrong. And the loud sound, is it necessary?
Having skated one season on it, I will say the following.
The motorcycle handles amazingly at any speed. It shifts perfectly from turn to turn. The motorcycle can be turned into a turn until the footpegs hit the asphalt. Handling at the level of modern classics. It is not difficult to immediately go around a pothole that suddenly appears from under the wheels of a car in front. I was very pleased with the shifter fork, it works as it should. The motorcycle is moderately soft or moderately hard, in general, after the dragstar, the suspension performance seemed close to ideal to me.
Brakes. The front brake is just a fairy tale. Always on two fingers. You just need to press a little with two fingers and the motorcycle already slows down; if you press harder, it just stops dead in its tracks. No matter how urgently I braked, I was never able to block the front wheel on the asphalt. But locking the rear brake is easy. Be careful with the rear brake. Especially during sharp deceleration, when almost the entire weight of the almost 300-kilogram motorcycle is transferred to the front wheel.
Engine. Is a song. The sound with the stock muffler is very noble. If the motorcycle is idling, it makes a sound like BU-BU-BU-BU-BU-BU, it's loud. If Warrior drives by, he sounds very dignified. When you're driving, you don't hear this sound; it stays behind.
Dynamics are a different matter. 1.7 liters……….The traction is simply HUGE. The engine starts to pull already from 1500 rpm. At what point it starts to pull quite well. When accelerating from a standstill, it lifts you away from the steering wheel, so you have to hold on to the steering wheel tightly. And you don’t have to turn it to quickly leave a traffic light; it’s enough to accelerate it to 2500-3000 rpm. in every gear and the motorcycle will fly away like an arrow. When overtaking, you don’t even think about switching to a lower gear, you just unscrew the knob and fly off into the distance. It's the same on the track. My friend on the blackbird sometimes can’t keep up with me when overtaking. The motorcycle quickly accelerates to 180 km/h and then slows down. The maximum speed is 220 km/h if you press close to the tank. The air vent greatly simplifies maintenance. This summer the heat was 40 degrees for a long time, and the motorcycle never overheated. This is Japanese quality.
The driver's position is very unique. The legs are extended like a chopper, and the body is tilted forward. But this does not interfere at all; the fit is quite comfortable. The motorcycle provokes you to light up and rock out.
The box works great. The gears have to be clicked often because... The motor is very powerful and spins through each gear very quickly. Consumption in the city is approximately 7-8 liters, on the highway if you drive 130-140 km/h then 6 liters, if you keep 180-200 km/h then consumption reaches 12 liters.
Vibrations. When the motorcycle is idling, the mirrors and rear wing vibrate noticeably. But as soon as you move, everything disappears. Vibrations also appear when you turn the engine to the red zone, but personally this does not bother me in any way.
Belt drive. Very good thing. What's good about it? It's just soft and doesn't require any maintenance. There are no unpleasant jerks when sharply unscrewing the throttle as with a cardan shaft. Everything is soft. And you don’t have to wash and lubricate it constantly like a chain, and the stars don’t wear out. You just need to check the belt tension sometimes and that’s it. I talked to people who, over 30,000 km, had never tightened this belt.
And the beauty of the motorcycle is simply amazing. No matter where you go, people start hanging around the motorcycle, and long-boring questions like galloping and rushing.
Well, now the cons. There are not many of them, but they exist. And the first minus is the lack of space, in the sense of nowhere to put something. Everything has to be stuffed into pockets. The second disadvantage is that it is not comfortable for the passenger to sit. If the trip is 200-300 km then nothing, but if it’s 1000 km then I don’t envy the passenger. Still, Varya is designed more for driving around the city. Well, the third minus is the 15 liter tank, I would like more. Although there is such a function in this motorcycle, when there is 3.5 liters left in the tank and the light comes on, the display starts counting how many kilometers you have driven on the light. And the biggest disadvantage is of course the price. Prices for consumables are the same as for all other Japanese motorcycles.
Well, that seems to be all. Varya I am happy as an elephant. For me this is the best motorcycle. If you need a beautiful, fast and comfortable motorcycle for shooting mainly around the city, then this is it. If I were choosing a motorcycle again now, I would choose Varya.
Yamaha XV1700 Warrior. You need to look at the frame under the engine - the cross member to which it is screwed is bursting at the seam. Well...hmm. It probably eats a lot (8 liters), but the tank is only 15.. I haven’t driven beyond 500, but I’ve never been a sports tourist. True, after the first hundred you start to get high. The stock seat is extremely comfortable, so think twice if you change it. It’s fast, fortunately the torque allows you to do many, even some sports, from a traffic light, and if you tune it, you’ll always be ahead. And of course, a very stylish, catchy, memorable device. I recommend.
Yamaha XV1700A. The mot is very interesting, I agree. It goes down the road comfortably, softly, at least in the driver's seat. Visually very beautiful, large, immediately noticeable. It rides over uneven surfaces stably and moderately comfortably, while cornering more confidently than its competitors. Other motorcycles shake a lot... Not bad brakes.
But there are a couple of disadvantages:
There is a lot of power, but there could be more. The lower end, despite such a big engine, is not enough in my opinion. The torque shelf is quite small. The motor is not fully flexible. You have to switch quite often in the city. If we compare it with the same Suzuki Boulevard 1.5 liter, then Rod Star is only a little faster in acceleration, but loses at maximum speed. The turning radius is quite large. Again, it is smaller at the boulevard. Also, the motorcycle is very heavy, for me this is not really a problem, but you still need to try to make motorcycles more comfortable and maneuverable at low speeds and in the city. Again, the boulevard is much lighter and easier to manage. Also, the sound of the engine is specific, you constantly listen to what is rumbling and clicking -)) This bothered me.
